Contentment

Why is this such a sour word to people? I have explained to some that I am content or that that is something that I aspire to be, especially in a holy sense of contentment. Not just by cutting things out of my life but also with what I have been given - giving them due respect being responsible for what I do have. A co-worker, once I told him that I was content, an he replied with a huge sigh of disgust for a lack of a better word, it was like "ewwe". Yet another person, who I am very close to, said they never want to be like me "content". These discussions don't come up much in life, but recently, 2 of 2 have rejected such a position.

The world pushes the narrative we should never be contented
They bombard us with commercials about sleek cars and beauty products to make us want to look better they think you can only be happy with “things” the more you have the happier you will be
All deception to trap you and the enemy wants you to worship “things” “money” “self esteem “ these are all forms of idolatry which moves you away from the father
I myself live a minimal lifestyle the lord has blessed me with what I need and this gives me peace of mind that I am not trapped in the rat race
I live in this world but not of this world
Many worldly people don’t understand contentment , they may even see it as you trying to insult them because they have been programmed to want more , they just aren’t at the point where they are happy with what they have
Pray for them that they fill that void one day
But you are not alone in this world
