Current events in Israel

I've been watching and crying. It's so painful watching these people being forcefully removed from their homes of 30 plus years. They cry out for sympathy from the rest of the world. It's heartbreaking. :unlove:

When it comes to the Jewish "story", for lack of a better word, I know very little. :embarasse I know they are God's chosen people and that they, at some point, disobeyed God. Because of their disobedience, they've been dispersed upon the earth and persecuted by non-Jewish people. I'm slightly familiar with the promise God made to them; that they would eventually regain their land and will always remain his favored people.

If they are so favored, why does He allow such horrendous, persistent persecution?

What are the biblical implications of the events taking place in Israel today?

How do these events fit with biblical prophesy?

Any discussion or direction on this topic is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Good toppic Amen I would love to be taught more about the current worldsituation ... connected with Israel and all too. . .i got pretty plain basic knowledge about all that too . . . the bible is like a loveletter to us . . .and your right about the special love to Israel . . .who acted more like an unfaithful wife to God. . .
so here is the question the other way around. . .if Israel has such a forgiven, loving God . . .who keeps keeping His promise to them as their special ppl . . .why did and do they continue to turn their backs on Him. . .
Im sure someone on TJ has the love and knowledge of this very important subject. . . would love to see and read more about this

First, thank you so much, peeps, for directing me to Gloria's "Nation of Israel" thread. I had searched for any discussion on this topic to no avail. Secondly, I hope Gloria doesn't mind my quoting her outside of her thread. Forgive me if I shouldn't have copied from there and pasted to here, Gloria. :embarasse

One thing that has troubled me recently is the fact that more and more churches are beginning not only to believe but to vote to include in their denominational constitutions what is called "Replacement Theology".

As Christians we believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac,and Jacob. God changed Jacob's name to Israel. In the Old testement when the children of Israel is mentioned, this is who it is referring to. So many church people are oblivious to this.

Its hard for me to undertand that some who name the name of Chirst think the church of the New Testament has replaced Israel and have such a hatred for them. They think God will never have anything to do with the people of Israel again because they rejected Him. Thats where Christianity came from - our Judeo-Christian heritage. Jesus was Jewish - King of the Jews, and a Rabbi in fact. The disciples were Jewish. So I don't understand how poeple can hate the Jews and say they love Jesus. Some say its because they killed Him. But they are only listening to religious, man made doctrines and are not hearing what the Word of God says. Jesus said no man takes His life. He laid it down for us. (John 10:17-18). This was God plan of salvation for us.

Even though they rejected Him, He will give His chosen people one last chance to come to Him. In fact many Jewish people now believe that Jesus Christ (Yeshua) is their Lord and Saviour (Messiah). Soon the rest will have their eyes opened to the truth and 144.000 of them will preach the gospel in all the earth. It will happen sooner than you think. The Bible tells us God made a covenant with them and He will never break it. We are to love them, bless them and pray for them.

I'm not at all familiar with this "Replacement Theology". The teachings I grew up with were strictly based on Jacob as Israel and the children of Israel being God's beloved. I'm not sure how anyone who has read the Bible can deny that Israel has always been and will always be God's chosen. I don't understand any confusion in that respect.

I'm also confused as to why it would be so difficult to believe Jesus' lineage. The title "King of Jews" was his birthright. Was Mary not Jewish? Being born of the Jewish Virgin Mary and God, wouldn't that, in itself, authenticate His Jewish Royalty? I mean, come on, think about that. Whom could claim the position above Jesus?

I digress. I do understand God's promise to the Jews was conditional upon their pilgrimage back to Him. I guess I had let my sympathy for their plight to overcome my understanding of biblical prophecy when I asked why He allows such severe persecution. Thank you for reminding me. That leads me to another question, though. If we pray for Israel's acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah, aren't we, in essence, praying for the end? Would we be doing a disservice to others who remain lost? Afterall, once Israel fulfills prophecy, the unsaved will endure the Tribulations. I'm ready to go, but others aren't.

The discussion I had most hoped to delve into was how current events in Israel apply to prophecy, but I'm having a difficult time formulating the words I need to express my concern....

Could the forceful removal of the Jews be symbollic of an overall movement away from the direction they should be taking?...acceptance of Jesus as Messiah? But then, I had expected massive bloodshed and anger and hatred as a result of the "pullout". That's not exactly happening. Could that be an indicator of a movement in the right direction? Should these events be read as the beginning of the end, or the continuance of the long journey still ahead? I know I'm not being clear. <frustrated>

6. The people of Israel would have a worldwide impact
Bible passage: Genesis 12:2-3
Written: perhaps 1400 BC
Fulfilled: Throughout history

In Genesis 12:2-3, and in Genesis 28:10-15, the Bible said that the descendants of Abraham and the descendants of Abraham's grandson, Jacob, would be a blessing for people worldwide. Jacob is the father of the 12 Tribes of Israel (the Jews). In 1898, Mark Twain wrote an essay for Harper's New Monthly Magazine that discussed how the Jews have had an impact on the world:

" … the Jews constitute but one percent of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of stardust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly, the Jew ought hardly to be heard of, but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. Genesis 12:2-3
"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

7. Israel would be partitioned by other nations
Bible passage: Joel 3:2
Written: about 400 BC
Fulfilled: 1900s

In Joel 3:2, the prophet said that the nations of the world will be judged for having scattered the people of Israel and for having "divided up" (or "parted" or "partitioned") the land of Israel. Christian scholars believe that this is a prophecy that will be fulfilled during the End Times. But portions of the prophecy already have been fulfilled. The Jews have been scattered to nations throughout the world, and the nations of the world have divided up the land of Israel. On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly approved a motion to partition the land into two separate states, one for Jewish people and another for Arab people.

Joel 3:2
I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.
(NOTE: "Jehoshaphat" means "the Lord judges.")

So those persecuting the Jews in Israel today, the Palestinians(?), are following suit with the Egyptians, Babylonians and Romans? Who are the Palestinians? Are they Muslims?

This is so heartbreaking its hard to watch what you see happening the last few days. It is prophecy happening before our eyes.. This is very disturbing that America has become a part in this process. How we treat God 's chosen people Israel is how the nations will be judged.


Joel 3:1 For Behold, in those days and at that time when I shall reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,

2 I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for their treatment of My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and because they have divided My land



Genesis 17:8
And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God


There is so much land in the Mid East which is occupied by the palestines and already part of the Land God gave to Israel. Israel is a tiny little country compared to all that. This will only weakenss Israel's defences more. Parting the land will NEVER bring peace. Only when the PRINCE OF PEACE comes will that happen.

I have been sad about this also and my heart gets very heavy with the dogmatic beliefs that have replaced the true scripture. I get so angry I have to pray to God daily and let him have the burden we all face as believers when speaking the word to others who do not try to read the word daily and feed and learn the truth (I used to be this way also but GOd loves us to feed on his word bc it is knowledge of the truth).

I love this forum also I am seeing a lot of other believers like myself and you all are helping me grow with God. THank you and GOd bless you all.
