As it is written.....
Heb9:27 And just as IT IS APPOINTED FOR MAN TO DIE ONCE, and after that comes judgment,
We all have a divine “APPOINTMENT” to die once. Jesus died once on the cross, but no man took his life from him as he laid it down of his own free will choice. (John 10:17-18) If Jesus laid down his own life for us, we are told in scripture that we should lay down ourlives for the brothers, and sisters in the Lord. (1 John 3:16)
No man can take our lives from us because we have a divine appointment from God as to when that day will come! This does not mean that youcan not die before your time as the Devil will try to kill you any way he can. We have divine protection if we keep a repentant heart and stay within his love. As it is written....
1Jn5:18 We know that those who are children of God do not keep on sinning. The Son of God keeps them safe. THE EVIL ONE CAN'T HARM THEM. (NiRV)
Many times the scribes, and chief priests, even King Herod tried to have Jesus killed but it was not yet his appointed time. Our appointed time comes once God has finished his work that he has appointed, and prepared for us to walk in.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for GOODWORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED BEFOREHAND, THAT WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.
Php1:6 And I am sure of this, that HE WHO BEGAN A GOOD WORK IN YOU WILL BRING IT TO COMPLETION AT THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST.
God's work is what the Lord God does through man as his work until he completes his work on the day of Jesus Christ!! What is the day of Jesus Christ?
The day of Jesus Christ is when he comes to take us home. It can also be known as “our departure”.
The Apostle Paul said the day of his DEPARTURE had come.
2Tim 4:6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and THE TIME OF MY DEPARTURE HAS COME.
Paul's departure was in his death, but he (Paul) knew that death had no more power over him than death had no power over Jesus. Jesus has destroyed death, and he has brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel! (2 Tim 1:10)
All believers have been set free from the law of sin, and death by the law of the Spirit of life.
Rom8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH.
A Christian death should only be viewed as simply falling “ASLEEP”!
1Co15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP, but we shall all be changed,
1Th4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so THEM ALSO WHICH SLEEP IN JESUS will God bring with him.
Who is ever fearful of falling asleep? Not me! I used to be fearful of death, but not anymore. One of Jesus's main purposes of destroying the one who had the power of death was to deliver us from the “FEAR” of DEATH!!
Heb2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Heb 2:15 And DELIVER THEM WHO THROUGH FEAR OF DEATH were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
It is "bondage" to fear one's own death.
No one likes thinking about their own death, but what about thinking of our departure which is far better! Remember what Jesus said.......
Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU.
Joh14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN, AND RECEIVE YOU UNTO MYSELF; that where I am, there ye may be also.
We usually think of this verse about when Jesus returns for his Church, and yes it is about that, but not just about the rapture. Every time a believer falls “asleep” the Lord Jesus comes to take them where he is!!! We can see this in the death of the first saint spoken of in the scriptures......
Act7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, LOOKED UP STEDFASTLY INTO HEAVEN, AND SAW THE GLORY OF GOD, AND JESUS STANDING ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD,
Act 7:56 And said, Behold, I SEE THE HEAVENS OPENED, AND THE SON OF MANSTANDING ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD.
Act 7:57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
Act 7:58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
Act 7:59 And THEY STONED STEPHEN, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
Act 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, HE FELL ASLEEP.
Stephen fell asleep as he saw Jesus coming to receive him into his father's house. Jesus promised his saints, “I will come and receive you unto myself.....”
All believers who fall asleep are received by Jesus at that moment they depart this earth.
Ecc 7:1 A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume. And THE DAY YOU DIE IS BETTER THAN THE DAY YOU ARE BORN.
Psa 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints.
