Debate --is it ok to do according to Gods word?

Romans 29 verse 1 in the KJ version uses the word debate, going back and forth about a subject, I thinking this is even more relevant in a spiritual talk. I know I will be picking my words a lot more carefully from now on, arguing is not Godly and is not a good representative of Christ, forgive me Lord !!

I agree arguing the Scripture can get out of hand. None of us have yet been stoned to the point of being left for dead as was Paul from arguing the Scripture.

Luke told us it was Paul's custom when entered into a city to go to the temple and preach/teach the Jews of Jesus Christ. Every time it was an argument until finally the rejection was so strong and his life in such jeopardy, Paul shook the dust from his feet and dedicated himself to the Gentiles.

Most of the apostles had no stomach for it as did Paul, especially John. I think most here would be surprised if Paul were here today making his rounds to the churches. Talk about arguments, he would again turn the world upside down!

Noone on Earth brings new revelation, that isn't already revealed through the Word of God (Jesus Christ), which is fullest revelation given to man. Through the moving and operation of the Holy Ghost, I Pray what we say here (with Scriptural backing) brings the truth of these Revelations, truth by truth, or precept upon precept, to the heart of the hearer. Lay what we say before the feet of Jesus (Word of God) and compare, the Bible is Always truth, so if they don't match, we need to reevaluate our stance. What we say or do here will have lasting impact upon the believer and sinner alike. We most certainly have freedom of speech, but any true christian will weigh what they say against the Word of God and if they don't agree God is not in error, and we need to pray for understanding. Those that have more meat of the Word can help those who are struggling, if done with humility, peace and love. I don't mind a peaceful debate, but when we start to argue amongst each other that is not the Spirit of God. God Bless and Peace to you all. No one who considers themselves christians consider themselves a beast, but we all have at the least a bit of the beast residing within us and it often shows in some of the discussions here at TJ. Scripture is clear, dont throw your pearls before the swine (a beast who will get angry and attack you for throwing anything their way, other than that which they want to see come out of your mouth). So when I begin to get angry at those who are beastly, I begin to get quiet posting wise because "I" dont want to become the beast. We are not to join in being beastly just because others have done so. Yet the christian church is full of examples of people that become beastly and only stop being beastly when others agree that "they" must be right in their assertions. Very sad.

Internet talk forums of the Christian variety are not for everyone! It's not exactly a Sunday School experience at your local Church.

We all know all denominations will be there bringing all there interpretations of Scripture with them. What do you expect to happen?

There's going to be some heated conversation, just as we see in Scripture with Paul and Barnabas, Christ and the Sanhedrin, Steven and the Judaists, etc.

The name calling is not nearly as bad on the talk forums as in Scripture. Hypocrites, fools, liars, murderers, demons, devils, are some of the words in name calling used by devout believers in the Scripture.

These talk forums are not for the faint and tender hearted. If you're not up for the task as were the Bible believers, it's best for you to sit on the porch.

Jesus offended people not on purpose, but sometimes people get offended by hearing the truth of God's word especially if they are not in agreement with it or living it.

When we picture Christ we see the meek Lamb of God who laid down His life for mankind that we might be saved. But that's not all of who Christ was.

He was a man just as we are but without sin, he became angry and yet never sinned.

Some of us don't want to see the Christ that told the Pharisee's they we going to hell, or told them to their faces they were possessed of devils, and were hypocrites. He did exactly that and we can't overlook it.

Did Christ sin here in the name calling and threats? Do you want to be the one to tell Him, hey, there's no need for this?

When false doctrine came to the Galatian Church and they accepted it, Paul found out about it and went into a rage. In his epistle he addressed them as fools. Are you going to ask the apostle Paul as you asked me, "do you have peace of heart like Jesus did?"

These kinds of things will get you reprimanded on this talk forum and rightfully so. Can you imagine one of the moderators here becoming angry with something you did here and addressing you as a fool?

What about the apostle Simon Peter? he stood up before a crowd of Jews and said, "you have killed the Prince of Peace." He was accusing them of murder. That wouldn't go over vey well here.

My point is that just as we need prayer warriors and those here who faithfully provide encouragement to others in their time of need, we also need those who will "contend for the faith" as bitter as it may become.

We know that Paul didn't want the heated arguments that he so often encountered. We know he wanted to teach and preach the Gospel of Christ, who He is and what He has done for us.

We know that it was Paul's custom when he entered into a city on his travels, to enter the Jewish synagogues and reason with them Christ. He knew what was waiting there for Him, just as we know what is waiting for us on these forums.

That didn't stop Paul from his teaching, he met it head on and did it continuously in every city he came to. He didn't back down from false doctrine when he encountered it, full well knowing his life was at stake.

Some of us on the forums have that same attitude, we will not back down from false doctrine but will reason the truth of Scripture come hell or high water.
