"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4
I really like this verse. And I know what God is talking about now when he says he'll give us the desires of our heart when we delight in him. Many times I've looked at this verse and thought, okay, I have to delight myself in him and He'll give me everything I've ever wanted! Or ever thought I've wanted. Well, big surprise, Damaris: God knows you better than you know yourself!!! He apparently knows my desires more than I do. Last summer was spring break and I was bummed cause all my friends that I always hang out with were out of town and I thought it would be the worse spring break ever. So monday and tuesday I had a lot of time on my hands and got to spend alot of time in the word and just totally soaked God in. Well, God was ready to stir something really cool up for me. He provided me with friends to have fun with, like Josh and Margaret and karissa!! I hadn't realized this until saturday night when I was laying in bed with a content smile across my face.
Sometimes we are too focused on the "Big Life Desire" like growing up, getting married, living large, ya know? But God is always giving us our desires but we don't realize it cause we're so busy lusting over the "Big Life Desire" and we're like "okay God, that fine retirement hasn't come around yet", and we're like 18! I am going to start looking at the little things God does that make me smile and start noticing how that was a desire of my heart and not over look it and smile about it. So everytime I smile, I'll look around and ask myself, "Okay, what did God just do?" I'm so thankful now for every smile God gives me!
