 I know you love "The Passionate Christ", Chad and I learned a little more about Jesus the man, in that movie. One thing though...I was wanting to see Him laugh. He did for one second, in the film, while He was throwing water at His mother. That wasn't the laughter I was looking for. My poll is, "did Jesus laugh and joke, or was He always serious". I am looking for happy hearts on this one, because I want to hear people positively and happily explain their belief that the Lord did laugh.
Yes or no?

yes.In my friends dream he did laugh at her because she said something about why he picked him and not someone like the pope.We all laugh so why not Jesus.Besides laughter fills our hearts with happiness if it's something good to laugh about.

Yes indeed Jesus laughed! He showed emotions just as we do. We know that He wept, so why wouldn't He laugh? Laughter is a form of joy, and the Bible is full of joyful passages. I would like to believe that God laughs with us at times. Can't you just see Jesus and the disciples sitting around playing a game of Charades or something and just laughing and having a good time?

Have you ever noticed babies smiling when they are alone? I believe the angels play with them and make them laugh. I can vividly remember my son laughing as a baby and reaching up as though to touch someone when there was no one in the room but him.

The Bible tells us that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psa. 30:4-5) It also says that there is no weeping in heaven. (Rev. 7:17) I believe heaven is full of laughter.

Eccl. 3:1,4 - To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance...

Don't you just feel good when you laugh? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! God bless you!

Jesus laughs

Jesus smiled and laughed with His friends. Do you think children would be attracted to a serious, gloomy and sad looking face? Never children are always attracted to a cheerful man. So if the New Testament testifies that the children were loving Jesus so much, that means Jesus was smiling and laughing. A cheerful face is sign of good heart says book of Syrach.

I know that Jesus laughed too as I have a picture of Him laughing. He has a sense of humour and did experience all the emotions we go through when He came to earth as a baby and grew up. Laughter is as good medicine for the body.

I added the poll to your thread sister pixie. I voted yes and all of you gave great reasons why. The way I imagine Jesus is that He was the most sirene, pure man that ever lived, I believe when He laughed or smiled the radiance and glory shone out of Him. I can't wait for the day to hear my Savior laugh, a lion laughs with the purest sound, the power and glory of Jesus expressed through beautiful laughter.

God bless you all
Much love

Yes, yes, yes, Jesus laughed. The bible says he is our high priest and felt the same emotions we feel (Hebrews)

Oh, Jesus, thank you, for being my Lord and my Savior.

People were drawn to Jesus. There had to have been a powerful compassion and joy coming from Him. He rejoiced with those who rejoiced. He grieved and wept with those who were grieving. (But he did not grieve long with Mary and Martha! He raised Lazarus from the dead!)

Oh, what a wonderful Savior we serve!

Great poll, pixie.

Absolutely. I am convinced that he did not walk about dressed and looking like 'Mother Hubbard' as some who represent Him today.

I think no one in history of civilization has laughed more than the Creator Himself. Why? For one, He created us in His image and likeness, which has to include a "good" thing (all good comes from GOD alone), this good thing being a sense of humour. Secondly, GOD has been around for quite some time LOL.

Jesus had every righteous emotions during His time on earth in the flesh as we all do. The difference between His and ours is that His reactions and emotions were always sinless and at perfect timing. For example, there are times to weep, time to laugh, so forth. Jesus being perfect knew when the right joke was spoken and surely must have laughed. He knew what party (wedding) was a righteous kind of party to be joyful.

All good comes from our GOD alone :) Laugh, be merry and praise GOD for such a great medicine called laughter!

Our GOD surely knew what He was doing when He made us. Amen to this praise! Imagine how depressing it would be if our GOD did not have a sense of humour? Sorry, but my mind does not comprehend this.

Re: Did Jesus laugh with his friends

I believe that the story of the resurrection of Lazarus (John 11) testifies that Jesus freely showed his emotions. He cried openly and profusely at Lazarus' tomb.

I also believe that when he stood in front of that tomb and watched Lazarus come out, he and Mary and Martha and Lazarus and all their assembled friends and family burst into a laughing and shouting and joyous celebration that brought the whole town out to see what was going on.

You cannot be a loving person and not laugh with people and share in their times of celebration, no matter how reserved your personality might be.

Jesus cried and wept and we easily imagine Him doing that... so i guess it's not that hard to imagine Him laughing. I guess He did laugh....

Jesus and God the Father not only laugh, they made puns all over the place. Did you even notice that every name God gives a person is a pun? Most of the visions He gives prophets are also visual puns. And can you imagine that Jesus didn't know the humor potential when making statements like "strain out a gnat and swollow a camel"?

Tickled Pink

Maj, I like the humor of God that you mentioned. I have never thought of it that way. Perhaps you could bless me with more humor of the Lord. I love to laugh with Jesus and I love what I am discovering about Jesus, our Father and the Holy Spirit. I feel like rejoicing right now.

I hope more people post some heartening messages, regarding the joyous life of our Saviour. It feeds me so much.

That's an awsome question!

And like you, I to would like to believe that, not only was Jesus serious in His life time here on the earth, but I also like to believe that He too, laugh at times with His loving & beautiful heart.

But one thing it true, He was/is very serious.

I, too, would like to have seen Jesus laugh in the film, but. I'm willing to accept the substitution of of an short impish grin while playing a joke on his mother.

Personally, I think we can logically assume that jokesters are laughers, too, because they have a merry heart and a merry heart produces laughter.

Look at this scripture and try to picture Jesus staying perfectly serious as he says these words: "Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and look, there's a log in your eye?"

To me, Jesus had to be laughing a little bit when he said this. Because it's so true of us all as human beings; we tend to judge others when we have a log in our own eye.

Jesus was the Son of God firstly, and the Son of Man, because He died to save our sins. Don't you think he found us just a little bit funny? I mean, in a nice way?

Because He had to go through the same things we go through and is our great high priest (Hebrews), we know that He experienced all of the emotions that we experience. Laughter is good medicine, and I believe Jesus shared laughter with his friends, followers, and family.

It is hard for me to believe that Jesus would be stiff and unapproachable. He's the Son of God and loves us so much that He died for us. That's true love. Someone that loving would be awesome to be around. People were drawn to Him. (Well, except for the Pharisees and such.)

The Pharisees probably thought Jesus was having too much fun. They probably thought he should be more serious like them. Now I know that is conjecture there, but I had to say it, so there.

Of course the Lord laughed.

I really dislike the movies or other depictions of Christ as a deadly serious, humorless messiah preaching hellfire and brimstone. I see nothing in the holy scriptures to base such a portrayal on. When I read the gospels I see a man in Christ who was full of life. A man who loved his ministry, and loved his disciples. He was very emotional, as evidence by the depth of hurt and pain he experienced when considering those who rejected him and the holy city Jerusalem.

I imagine the Lord smiled and laughed often.

I agree with this, and also, if you have been around children or have little ones yourself. They make us laugh with the funny things they say, and the antics they get up to, so I am sure they made Jesus laugh.

I do not think that the Lord was a grumpy 'stick in the mud', he was invited to the wedding in Cana in Galilee, and where there are weddings and celebrations, there is going to be laughter. I cannot imagine Jesus being there and being serious faced. Can you imagine the laughter when he turned the water into wine? I am sure he joined in, I do not think he would have had a loud, raucous sounding laughter, knee slapping..! No of course not, but gentle and sweet sounding.

I think this was a lovely question to be able to ponder on, it makes my heart warm to read all the replies and that we all seem to agree that Jesus did indeed laugh and had a sense of humour.

There is no doubt in my mind that He did and still does have a sense of humor! When I saw that movie and He splashed water on Mary, I got tickled, and I just knew that's how He was! He was human. Plus, one of my favorite things to do with my sisters in Christ is joke around and giggle. No doubt! :)

Check Out The Movie - *JESUS* - Awsome Movie!

Have any of you ever seen the movie 'JESUS' ?

Now this is an AWESOME film!

If you haven't seen it & you really like to see Jesus happy, then check it out!

I believe you would be very pleased.

In this movie He smiled & laughed many times.

One of my favorite parts in the movie is where Jesus was splashing water at His fellow apostles, as they entered the well to get a drink.

It displayed a sweet brotherly loving, happy moment & it warmed & tickled my soul, too.
