Do Christians have to obey the Old Testament law?

For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second. For finding fault with them, He says,
“Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,
When I will effect a new covenant
With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers
On the day when I took them by the hand
To lead them out of the land of Egypt;
For they did not continue in My covenant,
And I did not care for them, says the Lord.
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds,
And I will write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.
“And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen,
And everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
For all will know Me,
From the least to the greatest of them.
“For I will be merciful to their iniquities,
And I will remember their sins no more.”
When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.

This is from Hebrews 8 where Hebrews, Jewish People, are being instructed and must be understood from that context. It is also worth noting that according to folks knowledgeable of the original texts that New is not the best translation for that text but should read Renewed Covenant. My source text is The Hallelujah Scriptures.

No.
People should be quicker to think that they must have misunderstood the Bible than to think that it makes perfect sense to interpret servants of God as speaking against obeying His commands. People should also be quicker to disregard everything that any man has said than to disregard anything that God has commanded. In Deuteronomy 13:4-5, the way that God instructed His children to determine that someone was a false prophet who was not speaking for Him was if they taught against obeying His law, so even if it were a correct interpretation of the NT that it is speaking against obeying God, then we should obey God instead of the NT authors.

In Matthew 4:15-23, Jesus began his ministry with the Gospel message to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, which was a light to the Gentiles, and the Mosaic Law was how his audience knew what sin is (Romans 3:20), so repenting from our disobedience to it is a central part of the Gospel message. Furthermore, Jesus set a sinless example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to the Mosaic Law and as his followers we are told to follow his example (1 Peter 2:21-22) and that those who are in Christ are obligated to walk in the same way he walked (1 John 2:6). So Christ spent his ministry teaching his followers to obey the. Mosaic Law by word and by example, yet for reason it makes perfect sense to people to think that followers of Christ don't have to follow what Christ taught.

There are 603 man-made laws in the Mosaic Covenant that can be ignored. The 10 etched in stone by Yahova paint the perfect Word Picture of Yashua, who by His direction we are to seek to be like.

Can we also be perfect? No! But it is imperative that we strive to be.
In Deuteronomy 5:31-33, Moses wrote down everything that God commanded him without departing from it, so all of the 613 laws of the Mosaic Covenant were commanded by God and none of them should be ignored. Furthermore, the Law of Moses is referred to as the Law of God in verses like Nehemiah 8:1-8, Ezra 7:6-12, and Luke 2:22-23. Likewise, Christians are required to obey the greatest two commandments and to refrain from doing the things in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21, and Titus 3:1-3. Furthermore, in Matthew 22:36-40, Jesus said that all of the other commandments hang on the greatest two commandments, so if you think that Christians should obey the greatest two commandments, then you should also think that we should obey all of the commandments that hang on them. In other words if we love God and our neighbor, then we won't commit adultery, theft, murder, and idolatry, but we also won't commit rape, kidnapping, favoritism, and so forth for the rest of the Mosaic Law, and it is not as though Christians are free to do those things without sinning.

Jesus did not come to make the Old Covenant obsolete nor did He come to do away with it....We are to follow the law. Here!
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

By following these two laws we follow all the law. How? Vs 40 All the law is hinged on these two laws. Again All the law is based on these two laws. Obey these two laws and we follow the old covenant law. Simple concept.

The first 4 of the 10 commandments are unto God and the last 6 are unto our neighbor, the 2 laws of the Messiah. The 611 subsequent laws were given because Israel just couldn't figure out how to keep the 10, which our Messiah narrowed to 2. Scripture says that during the millennium there will be the temple seen in vision by Ezekiel and there will be sacrifices.

15Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 16“And you, son of man, take a single stickb and write on it: ‘Belonging to Judah and to the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another stick and write on it: ‘Belonging to Joseph—the stick of Ephraim—and to all the house of Israel associated with him.’ 17Then join them together into one stick, so that they become one in your hand.

18When your people ask you, ‘Won’t you explain to us what you mean by these?’ 19you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel associated with him, and I will put them together with the stick of Judah. I will make them into a single stick, and they will become one in My hand.’

20When the sticks on which you write are in your hand and in full view of the people, 21you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the Israelites out of the nations to which they have gone, and I will gather them from all around and bring them into their own land. 22I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them. Then they will no longer be two nations and will never again be divided into two kingdoms.

I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me, 15just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them in as well, and they will listen to My voice. Then there will be one flock and one shepherd.

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—but my ears you have opened—burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require."

So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."

But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

There r ova 600 laws to follow.. I'm surely glad I'm not of the bonds woman
For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
