Procrastination–the act of putting things off or doing them at the last minute. Many people do it throughout their daily lives without even noticing.
We waste our valuable time doing useless, unnecessary and time-consuming activities. We become caught up with them until the last minute, when it hits us and we remember that we should have been doing something else. We then rush to get it all done.
It can be many things that we may procrastinate on–chores, doing homework, getting ready, or even God. We forget to spend time with our Father, God; we mean to read the Bible, but instead we put it aside.
Here are some tips to help you conquer procrastination!
1.) Evaluate what you want and need: What you want and need can be very different. God wants us to obey Him and take the right path! It may not be easy and it might not be what you want, but it may just be what you need. Sometimes, when we put away the things that we don’t need or that distract us, it helps us to stay on the right path.
Other tips to consider:
Keep a journal or a planner. Being organized is a key to doing things on time.
Also, think of tasks like chores and homework as things that you would not want to do later. It’s no fun waiting and doing things when you are tired or it’s too late. Do them as fast as possible so you won’t have to do them at a different time when you could be doing something great!

Turn my eyes from worthless things, renew my life according to your word (Psalm 119:37).
2.) Ask for support: On the way to defeating procrastination, you may need help. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength! Ask your family to encourage you to do things on time. Tell your friends to remind you too. Create a daily schedule to keep you on track!
Listen to advice and accept instruction, and at the end you will be wise (Proverbs 19:20).
3.) Do tasks as if you were doing them for God: We are God’s workers and we live to serve Him! Sometimes we forget what God really wants us to do and believe our way is the right way. But if we pour our hearts in the work that we do and give ourselves to the task, it will be hard not to do it! This tip is really helpful when you are confused and wondering if you NEED to spend time with your Father in Heaven.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men (Colossians 3:23).
4.) Pray: The last and most important tip is to pray. Pray to God for advice, for courage throughout your day, for strength to say no to procrastination and to beat temptation. Remember, He loves you and will listen and help you!
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mark 11:24).
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3).

Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time (James 4:14).
