Does Babylon Represent Sin?

Greetings,

when push comes to shove, given all the flesh and corruption of the world, does Babylon represent sin?

I am not after a long debate about all the theories and what Babylon did or din't do or was or wasn't but at the same time I am interested in the question presented from a simple overall consideration of what Babylon represents in Scripture.

I am not asking for renditions of who or what people might think or think they know who the bad guys are today.

Does Babylon represent sin?

Please try to keep your answers simple and please, don't let us argue. We represent Christ if we call ourselves Christians.

The word for Babylon, used in Gen 11:9 [Babel, Tower of] as well as in II Kings and in Daniel [Babylon] in the OT means "confusion". The NT word in the Book of Revelation has a Hebrew origin with the same meaning.

And our God...
"... is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." I Cor 14:33

Everyone who is confused in the things of God is in Babylon or is a part of Babylon. Consider all of the churches today calling themselves Christian while contradicting each other in doctrines and so often not showing charity toward one another. All of them have their Babylonish measure... their measure of confusion. Anyone who does not come out of the confusion of all of those places is certainly in trouble with God for He did not author confusion, did He?

"And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." Rev 18:2-5

I think of it as the "seat of sin".
The place that harbors and advocates sin.
