Im a huge video game fan, and I know that alot of games are violent, but do you think that they can lead a person to do wrong? Or influence a person to live out a violent game? Is it a sin to expose ourselfs to artifical violence?
What do you think?:embar***e

(for the new justin) I"ve read in the bible somewhere be carefull what we put in front of our eyes. In you"re public profile you stated you"re a new christian and its not easy. Their are new seeds planted in you"re heart and the devil will try to steal them, try to get you to turn from GOD you can read about this in the book of matthew the parable of the seed sower do what you can to keep you"re heart in the right growing conditions water you"RE self with the word of GOD read you"re bible and read and read and never quit carry a pocket bible with you it will realy help you may the LORD be with you and protect you and may he complete the good work he has begun in you in JESUS name I pray amen

Guard your HEART

Hello member, I'm glad I ran across your message because I do have a word form the Holy Spirit. Yes we have to watch what we allow to get into our HEARTS: things enter into our heart form 3 ways 1. EYES 2. EARS 3. MOUTH. If we protect our heart against the former lusts of the flesh our Father will be well pleased.

See Ephesians 4:30 KJV And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

I hope this have helped you, and I do feel spending losts of time looking at negative things will lead to negative things coming out of the heart.

Hi justin, something to think about here. As a Christian the Holy Spirit lives within you. No matter what you do the Holy Spirit is with you. Do you think it brings glory to God to be playing violent games, with all the thoughts and emotions that brings with it?

Thanks for your thoughts. I will take them into consideration. I know that any kind of violence is wrong, but I guess I just needed to hear it from a christians point of view.
Thanks, peace and bless out.

Justin - - My 2 cents is that above all its important to have a relationship with Christ, and let that exclusive (just you and him) lead you to your decision(s). I think drawing a flat conclusion assumes a 'cookie cutter' christian lifestyle, which is simply false as we are all prone to different temptations and breaches which the devil may attack.

I too like video games so let me try and draw a crude example. - I play all the "Resident Evil" games because I think they are fun and in my mind so fictitious that in my heart of hearts I don't believe they make me more proan to violence. I do however find the "Grand theft auto" games troubliing because of their realtivity to weakness / temptations I personally have - thus I stay clear of them. Same can be said of movies, as Christ has changed me my selection has likewise changed.

Straying from the point a bit - but bottom line whether it was a deck of cards 30 years ago or video games today we are bombarded with avenues the devil can strike, and the only real truth is to know where you are with Jesus and let that lead you.

Be blessed brother.

Justin,

I firmly believe Jesus has to be the focal point of your entire life. If you have immersed yourself in Him, He will speak to your heart because He is the Shepherd and we know His voice. If He convicts(not condemns) you about these games I wouldn't do it. Otherwise have fun. But I wholeheartedly believe Satan works through thousands of doors that are opened, video games included.
