Does scripture teach us to perform miracles?

Do you believe the Word of God teaches followers of Christ that we should learn and be able to perform miracles? The scriptures do say, “…the work that I do, shall he do also, and greater…” (John 14:12)

If you do believe that as followers of Christ we should be able to perform miracles, do you believe that we are to study the scriptures and learn how to do so? The scriptures do say, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of Truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

If you do not believe that as followers of Christ we should be able to perform miracles, why not? The scriptural words of Christ say, “…Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain. Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” (Mark 11:22-23)

I’m looking forward to your replies.

I believe that we are to learn to abide in fellowship with the LORD so that HE can perform miracles through us by the power of HIS HOLY SPIRIT.

I believe that miricles and healing etc are for today and we christians by faith can take the word of god and act upon it with confidence, we need to step out in faith and believe that god can work these miricles thru us, if we doubt they wont happen, its the same with any of his precious gifts.

believe and recieve - doubt and do without.

i think we need to take the word literally and do what it says, then i believe god will act on our obiedience and faith.

God is searching throughout the world for people who will just believe and act.

Mark 16: 15And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole [e]human race].

16He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] and is baptized will be saved [[f]from the penalty of eternal death]; but he who does not believe [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] will be condemned.

17And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

18They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.

19So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God.(C)

20And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied [it]. Amen (so be it).
(Amplified)

Have any of you ever wondered " why arent miracles happening thru me?" We should stop and check up on what we are preaching. It is not us but the Lord that works thru us in miracles but we must preach the Word of God first. Preach the whole gospel which is not only salvation but healing, miracles, and deliverance. Then signs shall follow the preaching of the Word, which is His proof that what we preached was the truth. This is the reason for Him doing so.

Thanks for the replies...

I thank each of you for your kind responses. I am very glad to hear your agreements with the word of God and your beliefs that God’s power can work through us.

Gloria thank you for reminding us that there are more than just miracles involved with God’s plan. I believe my inquiry was inspired by my concerns for many in my life community who have either no knowledge or no aspiration to allow the power of God to work through them. I desire to fill them with the Word of God, for I am certain that it is the only way.

I have written some poems inspired by scripture, categorized some scripture by subject matter, and written personal text in hopes to inspire some to desire to secure more knowledge from the word of God. I was blessed to self-publish the works, and I am in the process of distributing the text to family members.

I add all this to give credence to our exploring opportunities that may help others to hear, and succeed in believing the word of God.

Thanks again to all.
