Don't be misled--you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. Galatians 6:7-8 NLT
Investing in obedience to God and relying on the Holy Spirit to bring renewal into your heart may sometimes feel like a long-term investment that will never pay off. You may feel that there is no guarantee that obedience will pay off or that you will see blessings from God. Furthermore, you may become discouraged when you see the wicked and sinful appearing to prosper. Yet God’s justice will one day win out. There is no hiding your sin and disobedience from God, and that is why Paul insists on persevering in doing good.
There aren’t many examples of making investments where you have to wait quite so long for a return or benefit as there may be with eternal life. It’s true you may be blessed today by relying on the Lord, and the Holy Spirit will bring some comfort for the time being. But the full benefit of investing in pleasing the Holy Spirit is a long-term act of faith that looks beyond what you can see today.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I invite You into my life to being renewal and restoration.
