Don't know how to deal with this situation

Hi everyone. I have a situation that I am not sure what to do. We have a neighbor who is 22. He loves guns. I mean, LOVES guns. Three times this week, he has been at the edge of our property (still on his dad's property) and shoots every gun they have for hours...and hours. Last night, it ended way after dark. My nerves were shot. No pun intended... Let me make it clear that I have no problem with guns. We own guns and have our own firing range. When we use it, it is for an hour tops. Mainly because we can't afford the ammo to shoot for more than that!!

Last night my nerves were shredded. I called a neighbor, who thought WE were the ones shooting, and he and I both called 911. The deputies came out and they told us there was nothing they could do other than talk to the young man about having mercy on his neighbors. The noise ordinance for the county says no disturbing noises after 11PM.

We have had on going problems with this family including them pulling up our boundary markers and cutting down our trees. After us having to prove where our property lines were with an expensive survey, they still kept the trees and burned them for firewood. At the time we had a local police department and were told that a 'donation' was made by the Dad so that was why the police refused to even get our trees back. Now we have no police department as the voters in the township voted not to renew the police millage (65%) as many had a taste of the corruption.

Any suggestions?

Shooting in the dark doesn't sound that appealing.

To answer your question:

You could shoot your neighbor. That's probably not a very good option in all actuality. I wouldn't recommend that one. I hear isolation in state prisons is very quiet though.

You could introduce him to a young single lady in the area and maybe that would cause his interests to be placed elsewhere for a while, pursuing something that is not such a disturbance to you.

You could invest in a very good pair of ear muffs/plugs.

You could buy up all the ammo from local retailers so he doesn't have as much to shoot.

You could re-arrange your sleeping pattern to a different time and spend your evenings away from the home.

If nothing else though, I would pray about it. I will pray for you too if you like.

Blessings,

Travis

No easy way out. Pray a lot. Pray for God to bless the man with Good spiritual things like wisdom.

What a waste of ammunition. You should go out some day when he is practicing and do some practicing, too. After firing a box of shells in an hour, point out to him that you only spent X dollars while he spends many more times that to do the same job. Perhaps Sonny's new hobby is the reason they can't afford firewood. That, and a lack of functional brain cells. Perhaps you could replace the trees with thorny hedges? Just kidding, although a hedge wouldn't be cut down for firewood.

Interesting parallel, though. The father loves his son, but the son is only accountable to the father who is supposedly accountable to no one else. Our Father loves his children, too. While our Father is accountable to no one else, his children are accountable to others. Therefore, He wishes them to be honourable in all that they do.

Yo do have an opportunity to be an honourable witness for Christ. I also appreciate it could open the door to less positive things, too. You both have a common hobby and large adjacent properties. Statistically, Sonny won't be living with Dad forever. There is a local gunshop here which built an underground range because there isn't sufficient room as the shop is surrounded by homes. Cost a fair bit of money, but the owner hasn't received a single complaint. Phil 4:8

Dear Bluebird,
I feel compassion for your suffering.
Trials so up close and personal, and in your case, scary characters, is very difficult.

I'm sure you've taken it to the Lord in diligent fervent prayer as that, in Christ, does much. So much!

Our trials are more precious than gold and drive us closer to the Lord.

Lord Jesus can calm the storm.
He is with us.

The Lord is faithful and we can go to Him Knowing He loves us and cares about our daily lives .

He cares about those who are lost, too. That they might be saved. To know His love for them.

They are mean, without regard, or natural affection, don't know His love for them-
but need prayer for their salvation.
The young man is not been loved enough to be corrected. Speaks of it in Malachi. That the fathers return to the children and the children to the fathers.
If you don't know Jesus, you don't know love .
Love corrects a child that he be formed well. But if you only know mean, you teach mean.
Or pride or whatever.
Not hearing God but listening to the father of lies, the devil.
But Jesus died for all that they might come to him. Our job is to pray.

A person drawn by His love, wow, we all changed then.

So lets pray for these guys, only Jesus knows how to save them and ours is to pray.

Gentle as doves, wise as serpents.

Pray for those who despitefully use us as they did also persecute our Lord before us and they'll do the same. But the gentleness of God is greater than their schemes, and our warfare if for their souls.

He is able to make our enemies to be at peace with us or remove them.

It is good to pray for mercy for them as well as it is not a small thing to persecute others, esp. When at peace with you.

We battle not against flesh and blood, but principalities, powers, wicked spirits.

We thank the Lord that the angel of God encamps around them that fear God.

That the blood of Jesus covers you.

The 23rd Psalm.

Get the Word in us so the Holy Spirit will bring it out of us.

We ask for the Lord's protection and pick up the Word of God and His precious promises.

The armor of God.

We thank the Lord that the Helper is with you.
He will never leave you or forsake you. You are His child.

I pray you be strengthened in peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
I pray God give you wisdom which if we ask, he promises to give it bountifully.
