Hello... this is a very odd place I’ve found myself for the record... I am not a religious person, I don’t pray, most of the Bible stories I find unconvincing and honestly a way for people to either fear people into doing good, OR doing bad things, basically saying sorry like a 5 year old and getting then whatever they did disappears... because they believe. I can’t grasp those concepts...

You still with me?

so that being said... I feel spiritual in the sense that I look for signs from deceased loved ones and often do find them. My nana often sends signs in my dreams, she and I were very close. Such as I’ve heard her favorite glen miller song play randomly in my dream, and much more but more importantly...

I’m here asking for opinions on my dream- last night after I routinely put my son to sleep, went to be myself and woke up a little freaked out (as I said I am not at all religious)...

My dream was that someone or something, some image that was blurry and hard to see told me that Jesus wants me to be his disciple. I had to google the word disciple when I woke up...

I’m just very caught off guard and quite frankly freaked out... religious people who speak bible terms have always freaked me out like a cult in a way...

I am honestly not here to offend anyone, I just would like some insight on thus, as maybe I have been wrong this whole time... but the whole thing is very hard to grasp.
Thank you
If anyone reads this lol

Quote: Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Some years ago I was sitting near a bench; I was smoking Cannabis (weed) and I was miserable--I declared to myself that smoking cannabis was my 'joy.' I didn't know what joy was, and only in these recent months have I come to understand what is it, joy, what is joy?

When I see a child smile;
When I see my mother smile;
When I see my brothers smile;
When I see friends smile;
When I see a joyous smile on another's face!

What joy it is to see joy in another! What joy it is to know that in them is my joy fulfilled!

What I once thought was joy was an illusion and a lie; the lie that I told myself was the same lie that kept me from joy.

The world teaches us living, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brought us LIFE.

Hello Strawberry2020. Welcome to the forum. I enjoyed reading your post. Please don't be freaked out. Dreams like yours are not wildly uncommon.

Sounds like you've always dismissed Jesus as a belief system for behaviour control. Now something has happened to make you reconsider.

I would say the most reasonable thing to do is to investigate a little further before thinking through how to respond.

'Disciple' means a follower or an apprentice. You need to know more about Jesus -- what he did, who he thought he was -- before making any judgement. Read the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which are four portraits of Jesus. Ask yourself, 'who is this man?' The word 'gospel' is a royal word. It means 'good news'. what's the good news that these stories convey?

Also, try praying. If God is communicating with you in a dream, it stands to reason that he will hear your response. No special technique to it, just say what you need to say.

Dreams of that nature are often dreams to "wake" you up to the true life found in Christ, I pray you begin talking to Jesus in you mind (as He can hear your thoughts if sent to Him). To be His disciple is to follow Him (Jesus) and learn from him. You are blessed to be called to be a disciple of Jesus.

Starwberry 2020, I think you should give this a very serious thought. In both the Old and New Testaments God called people to serve Him. Jesus called 12 disciples to follow him and they obeyed, leaving all their pleasures behind. It's a great opportunity to be called to serve Christ because this guarantees the INSURANCE of your life both in this world and in the next. Many come to Christ after they have been preached to, others, after they have had some major or minor crisis in their lives. I beleive God is calling you to flee from the destruction that is imminent upon this wicked world, and for you to also help others to escape. God is presently calling out Muslims, Buddhists, prostitutes, drug addicts etc to Himself and they are obeying Him. Don't bother about your past life. For me the focal point here is not your dream, but the content of the dream: this is what matters. Have you ever read the story of Jonah in the Bible? I suggest you take this call seriously. If you still have doubts, ask Jesus to visit you and He will manifest Himself to you as He has to others. It's a great opportunity to have your eyes opened and pulled out of the blindness that Satan has cast upon those that have rejected Christ. Do you see the way this world is presently cascading down the slope of destruction? It must be God talking to you, because Satan can NEVER ask you to become a disciple of Christ. The Creator of the universe is extending a prestigious invitation to you. Would you reject it?
