Hey everyone!

So I wasnt really sure which board to post this too.. but because I think my dream might have had to do with my future wife.. etc.. I picked here.

I'll go into what I dreamed in a second, but first I wanna go over what questions I have because of this dream.

Questions I have:
What am I suppose to do with it?
How am I to know if it is from God? or just a dream?
I know in the bible dreams were interprited by another, like in the story of Daniel, should I try asking my elders/spiritual fathers what they think about it?
Anyone got any good bible verses about dreams, other than Daniel (i've pretty much read all of it this morning already)?

Anyway on to my dream!

It started with me marrying Dana (see my "about me" for explination on who this is in my life, basically she was the teacher/mom I was in a relationship with in HighSchool). So, then we went on our honeymoon where things started getting weird. I felt an overwhelming sense of "this sucks" come over me. Then I started chasing something (idk what) through a ton of rooms, different rooms with different layouts, didnt really spend much time in each room but they were beautiful. My friend holland was there with me running beside me (see my story again, basically he was my BFF who committed suicide after HighSchool), but instead of encouraging me he was saying we should slow down and just take a break for a while. I pushed on tho and kept running through more and more doors, until the last door burst open out to the outside where there was an extremely steep staircase leading down to the water. The outside looked like nothing I have ever seen before, it was the most beautifully surreal place ever, with huge mountains that were tinted blue, bluish green water (glacial color) and the brightest foliage (it appeared to glow). The staircase was lined with people observing the scenery, I didnt know any of them so I started to climb down. It was a stressful climb and I almost fell a few times (asuming I would have died if I did). Anyway, at the bottom there was a beautiful Red Headed girl dipping her toes in the water and looking out at the land. I went and sat down next to her and we began to talk. She looked flawless in appearance and we just sat there and talked about our lives for what seemed like a good few hours. For some reason it was very important that she was from Montana. At the end of the talk we both climbed back up the staircase and went inside the building full of rooms again. I gave her my card and walked out the door to a court room with Dana in it. We got divorced and the red head girl went back home to Montana, me hopping we could have a long distance relationship. After that I woke up, and wrote it all down.

Im not sure what the heck it all means?! or if it just doesnt mean anything and it was a weird dream... After thinking about it the outside could be my interpritation of what "heaven" would be, I mean Its definately not a place on earth. Idk, please let me know what you think of all this, and dreams in general. Also another random thing to add, Im typically attracted to brunettes... so Idk if the hair color is significant, but it was red... red red.

Thanks!!!!!

Josh.

There are different types of interpretation of dreams first of all. Beware ppl who say they know the interpretation directly from the Lord, for you don't know the character of the people here on the internet, to know the truth of the matter.

a) Interpreting based upon biblical similarities, like how in scripture things are compared in likeness to another thing.
b) Interpreting based upon modern day psychology of dreams representing repressed ideas being carried out in your mind.
c) Interpreting based upon direct revelation from God, (like Daniel, and Joseph did)
d) Interpreting based upon knowing that God uses images and memories from our own mind to speak to us in our dreams.

I personally use d) myself mostly, and some of a) and on rare occasions c) and with the last one which I use mostly for my own dreams, I understand that all interpretations that are not c) could well be wrong, Be always aware of that. Last of all, not all dreams are of course from the Lord, understand that as well. If I assumed it was a spiritual dream, then I would also assume that your relationship with Dana and Holland were an important part of your life before Christ, and you being led by your emotions most of the time instead of wisdom and prudence. But your new life with Christ will include another woman you will respect and that she will demand respect from you, and that a new male-female relationship will be slow going with you learning to control your emotions more and use more wisdom in the continuance of it.

It hard to say about a dream? some times we watch junk on T.V. and then have dreams about them ? One in a while it might be GOD?
Best thing to do is if you think it of GOD? ASK HIM . Then ask HIM the meaning of it?

I had a dream the other night. A great wall was water over maybe a mile high . I looked out a window and saw it. The two guys with me were in great fear. I seemed to be at perfect peace. Then I looked around out side and saw that great wall of water was all around me. Still it did not seem to bother me.

Only thing I could think of is the evil world all around us? But I also know there will be great tidal waves during the great tribulation.

I think we All dream lots every night but most of the time we do not remember them.

My times are in Thy hand

Psalm 31:15

Greetings Josh @oneup_shroom

Commit those memories of a difficult past to the Lord.....ask Him to give you His complete peace, in order that you don't dwell in the past even in your dreams
Trust that He has your future perfectly mapped out, He knows your needs, He knows if you will meet someone and get married
And He knows, if you do marry someone, what colour hair she will have....whether it be red, brunette or blonde

So brother don't get too mixed up or involved in trying to interpret your dream
Instead look to the Lord....keep focused on Him ...and know His perfect peace

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11

The symbology seems pretty straight forward so I think a generic interpretation can be made regarding the symbology.

Red:symbolizes blood atonement; sacrifice of Christ's blood;covenant of grace; cleansing justification; atonement;the earth; redemption; sacrifice; consuming fire; the person of Jesus.
I feel that the two woman represent flesh and spirit(red hair=redemptive covering) and the building represents the world systems.
It may be about the future or the now. This woman's is covered by the blood of Jesus, her thoughts or mind are under the authority of Jesus and his finished work of redemption and the mind of Christ.

You start off fascinated by the grandeur of life and the physical world around you.
Your finding awesome stuff but you know there is more.Your friend is like you,he knows there's more but
begins to doubt it can ever be known.
The "more" you find is the wonders of the creator, which makes the wonders of men and man insignificant.
Montana is "big sky" country, bigger sky means expanded consciousness.

You come back to earth but your head is still in "big sky" and divorce from the world systems doesn't seem as bitter as you thought it might.

I think it may be speaking about your journey in life and you may have recently had,are having or may soon have an encounter with the Holy Spirit.

I think it may be saying"there's so much more, taste and see that the Lord is good".

Questions I have:
What am I suppose to do with it?
Just what your doing,pondering,reflecting,seeking.

How am I to know if it is from God? or just a dream?
That's not always easy, our subconscious mind interacts with the conscious mind to sort out
data attained during the day to decide how to process and store it.We usually don't even remember dreams unless they meant something to our conscious mind or subconscious.
Dreams that are rich in bible symbology that send a message consistent with the Gospel message of redemption are most assuredly from God.I feel that your dream contains both of those elements.

I know in the bible dreams were interprited by another, like in the story of Daniel, should I try asking my elders/spiritual fathers what they think about it?
I think you are doing that here, but once you understand bible symbology it's fairly easy to see if there is a generic meaning.
Some symbols are unique to the dreamer so a dream can actually have multiple interpretations or layers.

The book of Genesis has stories of men who dreamed and what they dreamed.
Joseph was called "the dreamer" so his story would be a good read.
He also interprets Pharaoh's dream.
Joseph's Father Jacob had a dream about a ladder going to heaven.

Thanks people :)

That's really the first dream I have had that was that vivid and clear! I still remember it so clearly that its as if it happened in the physical world.

I appreciate everyone's input and guidance towards my dream and its nice to hear the different perspectives on my dream and dreams in general.

Big thanks to @Thiscrosshurts!
There are parts of the symbolic interpretation that seem to make more sense than what I was originally thinking. Especially with the color of the girls hair... Now I really think it had to do more with her representing redemption with a new companion(spirit or physical idk) in my future than an actual representation of who my future wife may be. And the Montana thing, thanks that one was throwing me for a loop... the "big sky" thing sounds like it could fit.

Also thank you to @Brad Huber
I am taking into account that warning. "Beware ppl who say they know the interpretation directly from the Lord, for you don't know the character of the people here on the internet"
With that in mind I am searching and praying for an interpretation from God himself, if there is one. and I will be asking my mentor/Spiritual Father what he thinks too, since I do know where he comes from, and he know everywhere I have been. But he is on vacation to a place with no cell reception.... soooooo that'll have to wait.

and finally @Fragrant Grace
You always seem to be that rock in the foundation when ever I ask questions about the less concrete aspects of life. I really do appreciate all your encouragement to keep my mind focused where it needs to be, on the Lord and Him alone :)

and if anyone else has anything to say about dreams or my dream please feel free to post... Its one of those aspects of life that I'm seriously curious about and I am sure others are too.
Oh, and everything you really find online is new-age crap... that's one reason why I posted here about it in the first place.
Thanks again!

We spend 1/3 of our life dreaming so I think it is a worthy subject to understand.
However since most people don't remember their dreams they don't feel any need to understand and just consign it all to the realm of "wacky".

Job 33:14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
Job 33:15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

The new age movement takes dreams seriously and that's why most of the info you find will be from them.
There is very little from the Christian perspective which is understandable because it can be difficult to tell which(if any)are from God.

We adapt very well into virtual reality when playing video games because of a dream state effect of acceptance of environment.
In a dream you can be driving a car that suddenly becomes a bicycle and your mind isn't even bothered by the change.
I once had a dream that my car turned into a cardboard box and I was driving the cardboard box down the road.
I remember thinking"hmm...how unusual..oh well".I somehow retained this modified model of reality and in another dream I had sometime later I needed a car so I went to a dumpster and found a cardboard box.I threw it on the ground and crushed it and then sat down on it and drove it off.
Even in our waking hours there are bumps and jerks in our reality model that our mind simply accepts because the explanation does not fit our reality model so or brain changes things. That's why 5 witnesses can have 5 different versions of exactly what happened and in what order.

I remember about 20% of my dreams so I have done my best to study and understand the subject.
Simply playing video games will give you a better understanding of altered states of consciousness and alter and sub realities.
I don't want to sound new agey because they have a different idea of expanded consciousness than the Christ consciousness that I refer to.
Their idea of expanded is actually the opposite, they get myopic and focus inward on the spirit of man.Holy Spirit reveals the "mind of Christ" that we are being woo-ed into following and thirsting for.So by expanded consciousness I mean revelation of the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:10 But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:11
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

So we do have to discern which spirit generated the dream, the spirit of man will reveal the desires of the flesh while the Holy spirit desires to reveal the things of God.

So there might also be a flesh or ego-centric interpretation to your dream and that's what the new age movement would focus on.
To them red might mean desire,I'm not sure.In the old testament it meant earth because the name Adam literally means "red earth".

Some science is helpful in understanding dreams like left-right brain interactions because most people totally ignore their right brain.
There have been people who for medical reasons have had the right and left separated and the results are very interesting.
Understanding the nature of matter and quantum theory also explain much about the dream realm.
I would start by understanding the "double slit experiment".

Not many seem to be called to explore these realms but there are some real awesome gems in that place.

Job 28:1 There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined.

Job 28:2 Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore.
Job 28:3 Mortals put an end to the darkness;they search out the farthest recesses
for ore in the blackest darkness.
4Far from human dwellings they cut a shaft,in places untouched by human feet;
far from other people they dangle and sway.

Along the lines of dreams, I found out some interesting things by first hand experiments.

I have always been someone who has lots of dreams and remember many of them at least for a time. When I was younger, I would have re-occurring dreams quite often, and they usually were the kinds that imputed fear.... like bad ppl trying to hurt or kill me... vampires coming after me, that sort of stuff. One of the re-occurring dreams I had was where a gang of ppl with guns were trying to find me to kill me. I was at an empty fairgrounds, and I heard the voices of the bad ppl coming close so I ducked into a building that had a series of gates once you went inside. Once I pushed past a gate, it would automatically lock so that I couldn't go back. And although I couldn't see anything bad up ahead, I heard the sound of an animals roar, and it was coming toward me. If I stayed there it would find me eventually, and if I went forward, I would be going toward doom. Then dream always ended with me very fearful, knowing that some beast would get me soon, and I would die a very painful horrifying death. Pretty rough stuff for a 10 year old kid, huh?

But here's the great thing. In one of these same re-occurring dreams, I realized this all had happened before. It dawned on me, that it must be a dream, despite it seeming very real. So there I was as usual in the building with the gates with the sound of the beast nearing me, and I remembered it happening before... it must be a dream.... and in dreams, maybe I can believe in something will happen and if I am positive about it (sort of like faith), it will happen. So I believed that the gates which always locked behind me would suddenly unlock as I pushed against them, and they did. I got out of the building, the ppl had passed, and the noise of the beast stopped, and the dream ended. And that dream once I used faith, never happened again. The power of faith works "very" well in dreams brothers and sisters. If you can realize its a dream, your faith can "make" things happen, changing the outcome of the dream.

Wow brad that's Intense, yah I had a recurring dream at around that same age too... Mine was being chased by a t-Rex all round town before hiding under my bed... He would rip my bedroom wall away and I would always wake up as he was reaching under my bed to grab me... Idk really when or why it stopped, but I don't recall any acts of faith, maybe I just outgrew dinasours.

But that's cool! I'll have to see what a faith filled dream feels like!! Its like training in the matrix God style :p

If I had this dream it wouldn't seem very complicated to me. I would say it's about you marrying Dana, then cheating on her multiple times. It may not be physically getting involved with other women, it could also just be you communicating with or viewing inappropriate footage of all these other women. You're getting deeper into the habit and your dead friend in the dream tries to tell you to stop doing what you're doing.

You don't listen and end up trapped, probably by some form of witchcraft, so that you will risk everything just to get with the Montana woman. I think the fact that it was so difficult to get with her is very important. It means that whether of your own will or under influence of spirits, you went against everything you knew to be right and sought her. It would seem as though this woman is very beautiful and very dangerous, she will be the key to your doom. Her influence is not natural and her beauty alone does not captivate you and all those other people.

You fall into her trap and divorce your wife to be with this witch. But of course Montana isn't going to be with you as she promised or implied, and leaves you still bewitched, all alone. Your hopes of being with her are empty, however you can't escape them. It's too late to get back with Dana. You've ruined everything. End of story. Really nice and simple dream, you don't even need to puzzle over it if you ask me.

@love_yeshua

Thank you for replying to my post about this dream. Out of context from my story I could see where this interpretation could in fact be correct. Yet, because of who Dana was in my life, I have to say that I don't agree with the way its put here. You see Dana does not represent anything good in my life, my relationship with her was extremely sinful and did not represent anything that is of God. Dana and I began our sexual relationship when I was 16 years old and she was 38 years old. Also, in my life Dana was one of my school teachers, a good friends mother, and a married woman. Therefore I don't think the "Marriage" in my dream actually represented a physical marriage between myself and her. It represented more my "marriage" to sin. (see my about me for the full story)

And the rooms in the dream felt more progressive and like they were moving forward. They did not feel habitual in any way.

Anyway, I have had some time to think and pray on this dream since posting about it here. I honestly believe that I understand what this dream was and what it was meant to represent in my life. It is a graphical interpretation of my testimony. For once I was "married" to sin (represented by Dana) and then I go on a journey with a large amount of significant leaps in progress, this progress is in Healing from my past and in maturity in the things of the spirit. I then believe this last room, or lack there of, represents my future, where I will be when the healing is complete and when my faith matures to the point that I can start ministering and helping others who may have similar habitual or traumatizing events and sins in their lives. I think Brad's idea of who the girl represents in my future is correct, but I don't think my wife will look like this girl I saw in my dream, I think the girl in my dream spiritually represents who I will marry, not necessarily physically.

But your new life with Christ will include another woman you will respect and that she will demand respect from you, and that a new male-female relationship will be slow going with you learning to control your emotions more and use more wisdom in the continuance of it.

I also agree with thiscrosshurts specifically when it comes to the color of the hair and some of the generic symbology involved with the color red.

Anyway, thanks for the reply... and thanks for everyones reply. I am really excited to see this "promise land" of life I was shown in this dream. I know it wont physically be there, in that surreal place... but I cant wait to see God use me to create this beautiful place... if that makes sense.

Hmmm.me want red headed woman from big sky to.
Are you so certain that this is your dream.
Is it possible that you are connected to something bigger than you?

Are your thought patterns submitting to the work that Jesus came to do.
Do you believe that he was successful in his mission?

Could she be a heavenly representation of you(the bride of Christ) now.
I think the dipping of the toe in water is significant(think about it).

This may sound strange but, "I am" that red headed woman(or at least I am supposed to be,and so are you).

My thoughts are all(I speak by faith) filtered through (under the authority of) the redemptive work of God as accomplished by the lamb of God,the Lord Jesus Christ.
If this was a revelation from the spirit of God about a bride then this woman is his bride.
If this revelation was from the spirit of a man then it would be about a man's bride.

1 Corinthians 2:10 But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Revelation 21:9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."
Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

@Thiscrosshurts

Hmmm... thats a different way to look at it! I'll have to pray on that one...

but that would mean the perspective of the dream would be all wonky, cuz the first half of the dream I am clearly in sin and working my way out of it (can't be Jesus/God, must represent me) and it appeared that the point of view of the dream never changed (I walked to the outside and saw the girl by the water)... that would mean after exiting the last door the point of view changed from seeing through myself, to seeing as Jesus... Which wouldn't explain the stumbling down the stairs.. since I am sure Jesus would be more coordinated than that :P and what stumbling represents couldn't be him...

Then again it could be that after exiting the door I am seeing life as Jesus fully living in me (through his eyes), therefore the girl in the red hair is Jesus's bride (being as it could be my spirit in some sort of seeing all three parts of myself in the dream "mind, body, soul", which I have been focusing the majority of my study time looking into lately.. so that would make sense that I could dream about it)..

Either way, it was just a dream... so I don't want to give too much credit to it... but it is an interesting thing to look into.

One up: Joseph had warnings in dreams about God told him to marry Mry. God told him to take Mary and Jesus away, and when to return. I take very little stock in dreams. God speaks to us mainly by His WORD. So may I ask how much time you spend in His WORD ? There are all kinds of phoney meanings to colors in dreans, and symbols can be endless... stairs why we can go to many extremes like red means blood, the dragon in Revelation, or take the color back that too can bend your thinking all over the place.

Stick to real like when your are wide awake, and ask God to direct your path by speaking to you in His WORD. That is flawless and you can trust the WORD always !
By the way Andy Stanley has a really great set of sermons about sex love and dating that is on now. I would suggest EVERY male to listem to these messages, no matter is you are married or single. Guys this is really the most important sermons on how we men treat women and how to find the RIGHT woman for you. Please listen or watch on the net. they are called "the move".

@farout

Thanks, and yeah that's kinda the road I'm headed down with this dream, it was a cool one sure... but like I said before, it was just a dream... so I don't want to give too much credit to it..

As with the word, lately I've been doing better than I ever have with reading the Bible, because I have such an interest in discovering who God really wants me to be... I have been researching and studying in the bible a lot on the differences between the soul, spirit, and body/flesh (using concordances... etc for a lot of help with finding verses/subjects). I'm far from a scholar but yeah, lately its been sparked in me to search out more and more. Before this study I did a lot of reading on Sexual immorality... etc, just cuz of where I have been in life ... I'll have to check out Andy Stanleys sermons.. honestly I've never heard of him, but it sounds like the messages go hand in hand with everything I have been studying/researching lately... And for another nugget of honesty.. my personality is very purpose driven when it comes to reading.. I have found that I don't read for pleasure, and I hate reading unless it is to learn a skill or knowledge. So, for now I have found a way for me to actually read the bible.. I study a subject. So for other people who hate reading.. this form of attack might help u get into the word :)
