Dreams

Greetings,

In Scripture there are several references to dreams. Most, if not all that 'came from' the LORD, are 'prophetic'. There are also references to dreams that did not 'come from' the LORD.
One thing we do need to do in regards to your question is to consider what is 'Prophetic'.
People can dream dreams and think, or get told, that the dreams mean something but, does the interpretation line up with the Scriptural framework of prophecy or not.

In modern days there has been a lot said about dreams and some people have probably made a following for themselves as interpreters and also in 'teaching' about dreams.
One thing Scripture does do, is to warn about dreams enough that we should look for interpretations with caution, considering first and foremost all that the Lord would have us understand about any specific dream.

Often dreams are the result of our many thoughts and activities and we can become so deeply involved in matters that we then start to 'listen' to our dreams as if God is speaking to us, while it may simply be a result of our not committing everything to the Lord before we sleep. What this means, in other words, is that we can have dreams about things or people that we have been thinking about or we can have dreams about things we have been busy doing that day (or days leading up to the dream).
Likewise, we can start to believe so much in what might be a dream from God, that we 'cherish' enough, to then find we dream the same dream again, which can add to our being convinced that we are 'hearing' from God.

One thing i do find interesting is that not only are references about dreams in Scripture involving men but even the 'favourite' Scripture from Joel that appears also in Acts, refers to "old men" shall dream dreams. Without trying to change the Scriptures to suit ourselves today [as happens with quite a number of Scriptures], we need to ask about dreams with this in mind, if we are to consider any dream as from God and as being prophetic.

I know that the Lord is able to use any means He wants to communicate to us and yet we DO HAVE Scriptures to check everything by, and they must all add up and not leave out parts to accommodate our flesh, even if that flesh dresses in what appears to be a spiritual cloak.

Like everything that happens in our lives, we must not only ask the Lord about it but we also must be able to totally surrender it to the Lord.

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
Psalm 37:5

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Proverbs 16:3

A Prediction of the Setting Up of the Kingdom of the Messiah in the World, by the Pouring Out of the Spirit in the Latter Days

Acts 2:15-1(NKJV) At Pentecost
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.'

Peter was preaching from Joel regarding the 'latter days'

Joel 2:27-32 (NKJV)
27 Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the LORD your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.
28 "And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
young men shall see visions.

29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
30 "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

The prophesy, dreams and visions mentioned here are the latter days, literally towards the end before the great and awesome day when Christ returns in Glory.

Not at any other time, - It will be at the end of the Great Tribulation Period.

Greetings @Br. Bear @Brother-Paul thank you for your response.

This is what i dream regarding my sister last July 18 2019. This is when i wake up at 2am in the morning.

I saw that i am attending a wedding in the province and my sister was left in our house ( that house is different- not familiar to me but it says in my dream that it is ours ) while going back we ride a bus, me, my grand mother who is died long time ago and my auncle (this auncle I’ve been praying for him that he may know more about Christ- this auncle lived in canada with my eldest sister ) before we ride a bus someone give us a key chain, the rare thing is that when the bus arrived, the 3 of us entered on different door in the bus.

So when we arrived at home i saw that our doors at home was open, i saw that all of our things, clothes in the closet was in the floor, we went upstairs all the clothes are also in the floor. In my dreams it seems that the theft was looking for something that he cant find, so i was thingking good thing i didint left my laptop home and it was in my workplace.

Then suddenly i asked my eldest sister where’s our other sister? Me my mom and my eldest came running downstairs and look for her, we saw a big box and i saw her on that box, she was dead- her head was cut off, i saw that she was being raped by those theft who came inside, i was in shocked and i run outside, my eldest sister held her and bring her outside. At that moment i was still in shocked and i dont want to look at her, then suddently i saw that the body of my sister stood up and she was walking but her feet was not in the ground, her face was so peaceful and she was asking me “ why you didint told me?”
( before this dream I’ve been praying for her that she will come back to church, and I’ve been wanting to asked her why she stopped going to church )

In the dream, she hold my hand and showed me those people who raped her, there were 4 men and it seems that the leader of that group sees the soul of my sister while my sister are pointing them. The leader of those theft grabbed my sisters hand and wanted to bring her inside his house but i was not letting her hand go, on the other side of my hand i was holding a child’s hand too ( my sister also has 2 child, a boy and a girl )
So in the dream i saw that there were police outside the house of that theft and that man let my sister go and i saw that he hostage anotherwoman.

When i wake up at 4am i was crying to God for my sister’s life, and my sister woke up and on that morning i decided to talk to her about the dream, i told her that God is reminding you and me ( about John 10:10 )
And about salvation.

Prophetic dreams are usually those in which you can remember every detail in them.

Spiritual ware fare is always against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph 6:12) Although we can NOT see these being with our physical eyes they do exist in the spiritual realm.
Praying for someone, or other people engages these forces. Jesus said.....

Mar 3:27 But no one can go into a strong man's house and ransack his household goods right and left and seize them as plunder unless he first binds the strong man; then indeed he may [thoroughly] plunder his house.

Binding the strong man is what we do through prayer. Your dream could be God showing you what has been happening in the spiritual realm as you pray for people in your family. Christ is always the head of the body, and we are his body.
Satanic powers are constantly trying to "cut off" a member from the family of God, by separating them from those whom they are connected so that they are easy prey. These powers try to destroy people by bringing them into bondage, making that person ineffective for Christ.

You need to "bind" the strong man from all your family members. You were given the keys of the Kingdom of God to accomplish this work. (Matt 16:19)
Stay strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might!

Prophetic dreams include dreams that are God giving "YOU" a message, not anyone else, and then He sometimes gives us some to share with others as a warning to them.

I would say that's correct. Dreams are mostly meant for the person who receives them. They are given to us to prepare for or prevent something. They are not easy to decipher. I think we have to be careful calling them prophetic. In a sense, they are prophetic to the person who receives them - again to help you prepare for something or prevent something - or your family - or people in your circle of friends and loved one. They are not meant to predict the future of the world as those prophecies have already been given.

Example. On September 10, 2001 my friend from church woke up from a dram that the plane her son and his family was to go on crashed. She called him and begged him not to get on that plane, so he didn't. The plane ended up crashing n a field in PA.

Sometimes I've had very real dreams -- sometimes when a person has a Lot going on in their lives -- their psychy's way of dealing with it is in the form of dreams that are very real to the person dreaming.

I'd agree with 'saginon' "we have to be careful calling them prophetic".

And I Have had some very strong urgings during the day to share something with another person via gmail. It was the Holy Spirit urging me to apologize for something I'd done -- I'd been looking at another person's FB page. Didn't think anything of it cause FB is open to everybody / social media. But later that day I felt very strong urging to share what I'd done. I did - not having a clue as to what might have been happening at the other end with the other person.

Job 33:14 But maybe God does explain what he does but speaks in ways that people don't understand.
Job 33:15 He may speak in a dream, or in a vision at night, when people are in a deep sleep lying in their beds. (ERV)

Num 12:6 God said, "Listen to me! You will have prophets. I, the LORD, will let them learn about me through visions. I will speak to them in dreams. (ERV)

Act 2:17 'God says: In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will have special dreams. (ERV)
