1Cor 6:9; Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
1Cor 6:10; nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:19; Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20; idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
Gal 5:21; envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Eph 5:18; And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
Luke 21:34; "Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap;
Rom 13:13; Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.
1Pet 4:3; For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.
You know the Bible actually says it's OK to have a drink sometimes.
1Tim 5:23; No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.
There is some debate over the first miracles Jesus did, was the wine alcoholic or not? Well I can't prove it wasn't, but neither can you prove it was.
So there is little point in debating about it. In any case, perhaps having a drink every now and then is OK under certain circumstances.
But getting drunk, is never OK in the BIble.
1Cor 8:13; Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.
Maybe having a drink every now and then is OK for you. But if you're doing in front of someone else who has a problem with drinking, then it's not OK.
Ever since Genesis, the effects of alcohol and drunkenness have been known.
Gen 19:32; "Come, let us make our father drink wine, and let us lie with him that we may preserve our family through our father."
Gen 19:33; So they made their father drink wine that night, and the firstborn went in and lay with her father; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.
Gen 19:34; On the following day, the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve our family through our father."
Gen 19:35; So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.
Alcohol makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. It can make you commit sins, you wouldn't normally commit. Even worse, you might not remember or be aware that you did these things.
It is important that we are always in control of our minds and thoughts.
Don't let alcohol be the thing that keeps you from entering the kingdom of God.
