Dry Leaves - March 19, 2007
Deuteronomy 431 For the Lord God is merciful. He will not abandon you.
The month is March, and by this time of year all the leaves on deciduous trees should have fallen, for it is almost time for new buds to appear. There is a tree in our front yard, however, which still has quite a few leaves clinging to its branches. These leaves are dry, brown, brittle and look very ugly. I suppose, eventually, they will fall from the tree. For now, however there seems to be some invisible thread that keeps these leaves attached to the branches.
There have been times in my spiritual walk when I have felt just that dry and fragile. God has given me the assurance that Jesus has woven an invisible thread that will keep me attached to the branch/tree (Jesus) forever. I will NOT fall away, no matter how dry, brittle or shattered I am. Perhaps you, too, have been in this situation. Remember, God holds His children in the palm of His Hand.
Thank you, Lord for the assurances You write on my heart. They are for all Believers.
