Have you ever felt like your life is slipping away? You know what I mean. All your dreams and goals and plans have come to nothing. Everybody wants their life to matter, but what happens when yours doesn't seem to? Don't despair; perhaps it's OK. In John chapter 12 Jesus said, "The hour has now come for the Son of Man to receive great glory. I am telling you the truth: a grain of wheat remains no more than a single grain unless it is dropped into the ground and dies. If it does die, then it produces many grains." Obviously, he was speaking of his own death and the believers it would produce. But what does this statement mean for you? What are the implications for your life and dreams? Jesus goes on to explain it. "Those who love their own life will lose it; those who hate their own life in this world will keep it for life eternal." Ahh, there it is. Jesus is reminding you that your earthly life is nothing in comparison to your eternal life. He is also challenging you to die to yourself and your dreams about your own life. Die to self and live for him. It's not all about you; it's all about Jesus. We are to pray, "Your kingdom come and Your will be done." Otherwise you're just hanging on to your one grain until it finally rots and decays in your hand. Better to give your life in service to Christ and produce a great harvest for him. God be with you all...
