Elected By God

We may think we decide our destiny
even when a Christian we become
but God did all the deciding
for our spiritual death made us numb

Long before the world came into being
God chose a select people for His own
for man is born in sin and iniquity
dead spiritually as any dry bone

Spiritual life is instilled in His elect
bringing to life to that dead soul
when His holy spirit speaks through God's truth
God's power is fixing that empty hole

So salvation is fully and totally
the working of God's sovereign choice
such is the depth of divine love
one can only be glad and rejoice

God is author sustainer and finisher
of this blood bought eternal salvation
let us bow down in adoring worship
for this splendid gift on every occasion

So never never forget such mercy
for God holy in unapproachable light
made Himself sin in Christ's person
on Calvary Jesus took our eternal night

Now in imputed righteousness clothed
in royal apparel not our own
made fit for our heavenly abode
complete in Christ's spiritual seed now sown
