'Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,' says the LORD; 'and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,' says the LORD, 'and work; for I [am] with you,' says the LORD of hosts. Haggai 2:4 NKJV
It's safe to say that nearly every father has been faced with a situation in which his son or daughter called to him for help to complete some task--maybe something as simple as learning to ride a bike. A wise dad knows when to step in and complete the task for his child and when to simply speak words of encouragement. Above all, however, he knows the value of just being there.
The Bible is peppered with examples of God encouraging His people with this simple promise: "I am with you." That includes today's verse, which includes amazing words of encouragement straight from the mouth of God: "Be strong…for I am with you."
God has arranged His affairs here on earth such that He uses people to accomplish the work He wants done. But when He sends people out, He speaks words of encouragement and promises to be with them.
He'll do the very same for you today.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being there for me always. Thank You for having the wisdom to know when I need You to accomplish a task for me and when I just need Your encouragement.
