Heb 13:2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (ESV)
We usually think if we ever saw an angel they would have huge white wings as we see in pictures in books. I am sure there are spiritual created beings that do have wings, but sometimes we stereo type angles as only having wings. The bible describes God as having wings to, but God is not a angel, and he does not have wings in how we think he has wings!!! Royal robes that a king would wear have very large sleeves that hang down, and they do kinda look like wings, but are not.
Psa 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
The Bible says we should show hospitality to perfect strangers because some people have seen, and met angles without ever knowing it!!!
About 6 months ago I took my wife to a meeting at the very large Church in Apple Valley. It was not a church event, they were just using one of the rooms at the Church. I sat in my car waiting for the meeting to end listening to Christian music, and having fellowship with the Lord in the Spirit.
It was night time, cold, and the wind was blowing very very hard. All of a sudden a man came up to my car and knocked on my window for me to talk to him. He looked like he had not shaven in several days, and his clothes were pretty cruddy looking, almost like he was homeless. I rolled down the window, and he asked if I knew someone by a certain name. I said “no, does he go to this Church”. He just shrugged his shoulders, and then all of a sudden he began to talk to me about the Lord. Then he started quoting scripture. I thought, "I liked this guy" he was a man after my own heart, so I started quoting scriptures back to him. I could sense the presence of the Lord there. After talking for a few minutes to this guy about the Lord, he started to walk off. He took about seven steps, stopped, turned and looked at me and said, “Do you know what love is” I said, “God is love”. He smiled and said, “have a blessed life”!!!
I don't know how anyone who could stand there talking to me in the freezing cold wind, without a coat on and never complained about it. I don't know if this guy was an angel or not, but it was not your normal kind of activity one would expect in such conditions!!!
A couple of weeks later at the same Church at night, while I was waiting for my wife to finish at her meeting, I got out of my car and started walking around to stretch my legs. I walked by another car parked about fifty feet away. As I walked by a lady opened the car door, and said: “come here”. I walked over, and she said “what are you doing?” I said ,” just walking around waiting for my wife” I looked into the car, and I saw two other people in the back seat and two people in the front seat. Two men, and two women, and they all were looking at me with big smiles on their faces. They were not young, and they looked like elderly people. I said to them, “what are you guys doing here, is there a special event at this Church tonight? They shook their heads as if they did not have an answer. I know nothing was going on because the Church building was locked up, and all the lights were off. The lady asked if I knew where I was going if I died that night? I said “I sure do, in fact I am sitting in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus right now!!!
They looked pretty happy after I said that. I then said to them, “OK you guys, have a nice night, and have fun.
This is another unusual event that is not normal in your every day living experience. I seem to be having more encounters as I see the day of the Lord approaching. When was the last time you saw four elderly people giggling, and having fun for no reason at all in pretty an empty parking lot? These for sure had to have been angels unawares!!
