Our ancestors in Egypt were not impressed by the LORD's miraculous deeds. They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red Sea. Even so, he saved them--to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate his mighty power. Psalm 106:7-8 NLT
Have you ever overlooked God’s incredible power? Forgotten His kindnesses to you? Even rebelled against Him? We all have.
Even so, God loves you.
If you have accepted His gift of salvation, your mistakes and outright disobedience are covered by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Because of Christ, God the Father saves you “to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate his mighty power.” This is how God shows His righteousness, “for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus” (Romans 3:16).
We’re still human and prone to sinful behavior. Sometimes we’ll stay quiet when we should speak up. Sometimes we’ll pop off when we should zip our lips. Sometimes we’ll let our minds or eyes or feet wander to places they shouldn’t go. Even so, God loves us.
Nothing will separate us from His love through Jesus (Romans 8:39). That’s not an excuse to live in sin. But when we do sin, it’s an invitation to return to God’s fellowship in repentance.
Prayer: Father I’m grateful for Your steadfast love. May it continually move me to greater obedience and service.
