Ecclesiastes 3:21 "Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?"

This is just an explaination of the difference between the spirit or soul of humans and the spirit of animals. Animals will return to the dust where they came from, but the human soul is immortal.

Psalm 30:3 "O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit."

This was written by King David and he was praising God for rescuing him from death. David did not actually die, but he was ALMOST killed by those chasing him. He was simply praising His redeemer and rescuer.

Psalm 49:15 "But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave,
For He shall receive me. Selah "

This is just a bold statement that God will redeem us from death.

Psalm 16:10 "For You will not leave my soul in Sheol"

Sheol is the Hebrew word meaning "death"--this is a reference to the fact that God does not leave us to death. He gives us victory over death and He rescues us from it.

Numbers 16:30 "But if the LORD creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the LORD.” "

This is an Old Testament story about some disobedient people. They disobey even when Moses warned them and therefore received the wrath of God and were swallowed up into a giant hole in the ground that closed up as fast as it opened. (Yeah, God is that cool)

Luke 12:20 "But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ "

This is a passage discussing why it's a bad idea to store up "material things" on earth. Basically it's saying why bother storing up "treasures" or "things" on earth because once you die you can't take them with you.

Saying "you're soul will be required of you" is like saying you will die.

The Acts verse is similar to Psalm 16:10.

Sometimes the word used for "soul" meant eternal soul in Hebrew and Greek.. but other times a different word meaning "life" or "body" was used, only translated as the same word "SOUL". The Bible is clear that we all have a soul inside of us. The Bible is also clear that our soul will live on through eternity. WHERE your soul spends eternnity is either heaven or hell depending on whether or not you know Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection.

I'm not sure I understood your questions completely, but I hope this helps a little bit.

Always Jesus,
AJ

Your soul is your thoughts, emotions and personality. I can tell you this from past experiences and research into the Occult. Alot of people mistake it as being your spirit, when someone then says "I sold my sold" or something like that then they picture Satan buying your spirit. Wrong. He cannot touch your Spirit, but he can get to it through your soul. If he gets you to sell your soul (thoughts, emotions and personality) then the essence of who you are is sold away and you are flooded by demons why take that away from you, they express their thoughts, emotions and personalities and ultimately they will lead you to the path of destruction and hell. Heres my take on what a soul is in an example of application for further application. Hope it helps.

Can you back ANY of this with Scripture?

I think you have some great dieas, but I'm not convinced that a spirit and soul are anything different at all. Great ideas are...well...great. BUT God's word is better. Please prayerfully consider researching the Scriptures and getting back to us on this. I would be interested in your findings.

In Jesus,
AJ

Thank You.
In our English language dictionary, the noun "soul" is defined primarily as the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life (human or animal). It is the spiritual core of our existence.

Eccl. 3:21, PS 30:3, 49:15, refer to human souls. Many of the Jews believed in the resurrecttion of the dead, as the two psalms indicate.

Numbers 16:30 is in the story of Dathan and Abiram, who rebelled against Moses and as punishment, God caused the earth to open up and swallow them and their families alive.

Our soul remains in our body until the very last second of our life. It then departs and either goes to hell or to heaven. At the time of the resurrection, our body and soul will be somehow reunited and we will then go to our eternal destinations.

Lk 1623 is in the story of the beggar, Lazarus, and the rich man. I believe that this story is a parable, just llike the story of the Prodigal Son In Luke 15 is a parable. In this story, Jesus used hyperbole (literary exaggeration) to drive home his message. Jesus seems to be describing thought communication between Abraham and the rich man's soul.

Lk 12:20 is in the story of a godless man ("fool" means godless), whose soul is condemned to hell.

Acts 2:27,31 are citations of Psalm 16:10 which is a Messianic prophesy predicting Christ's resurrection.

I hope this has made some sense to you and been of some help.

God's blessings to you,

SLE

The Heart and Soul of the Party or should that be you and I?

Hi Pastor kuchipudi ras,

If you look above your Thread in the index you will see I have started one of my own on the Soul. Set mine up and then realised I was ignoring yours, sorry!

You might just find mine a little different in approach to yours. Deliberately kept short to allow for new additional contribution?

I'm writing this because my eyes fell on Psalm 30:3.

O Lord you brought me up from the grave;

you spared me from going down into the pit.

[Psalm.30:3. NIV.].

Me = Soul.

This touched off my memory of happy, beautiful times at a Yorkshire Farmers Camp meetings in the 1970 - 80's. now what was it called, oh yes, The Hollybush Christian Fellowship! I've just found a Chorus Book, haven't seen it in twenty years but Ahh the Anointing!!!

These still get me going and for a died in the wool Anglican that's saying something!!!

He reached down His hands, and He lifted me up,

He reached down His hands, and He lifted me up,

He placed my feet on the Rock of Salvation,

O what a firm foundation,

He reached down His hands and He lifted me up.

He took me out of the miry clay

He put my feet on a rock today.

He put a song in my heart today

A song of praise - Hallelujah.

He's got the world in the palm of His Hands,

No need to fear, He's in command,

The days may come and go,

but this one thing I know,

He's got the world in the Palm of His hands.

Hallelujah!!!!!

Song worship not we will sing such and such next! Just under a thousand born again Christian Souls singing their way into the Presence of the Lord!

And the Fire fell.

People were saved, slain in the Spirit, me included! Tongues, Prophecy and real Healing's. I still hear echos of those times, even now when after I wandered back into the world, just this week typing something here after joining Talk Jesus Forums after years in the wilderness. Typing something of importance here fell off the chair under the Anointing.

Now that is my Soul/Spirit meeting God's Soul the Holy Spirit, and I will be interested for someone to dig that one out of Holly Scripture. Please somebody confirm? It came by the Anointing, Alleluia.

Yours in His loving-tender-kindness.

Colin2000.

PS. Sorry Pastor I meant look down for my Thread-Post.
You might like to put the name of that fellowship in my post into Google Search? Not sure about it now, long long time ago but seems like yesterday!
