Faceless Pansies - October 10, 2005
Psalm 139:14
I had planted pansies in my perennial garden to give a little color and life to the terrain during the dreary winter months ahead. The stems and leaves were hardy looking, but there were no faces on the pansies as yet because the flower had not yet blossomed.
I thanked God that I was not faceless in His sight. Neither are you! He not only knows our faces; He knows us inside and out. He knows our thoughts and the motives of our heart. He knew us before we were formed in the womb and every hair our our heads is numbered. He created us with eyes to see the magic of His world. He placed each of the hundred million receptors within our eyes to do this. He also put the twenty four thousand fibers in each of our ears to vibrate the sounds we hear. We have the gift of speech- something God only bestowed upon the human race.
He gave us bodies which can move- thanks to five hundred muscles, two hundred bones and seven miles of nerve fibers, all in synch to perform at our bidding. He gave us skin to encase all of these parts, along with all our internal organs, which function so well. There is also our blood, flowing through our veins and arteries to our hearts, which He wants to beat for Him.
He gave us minds so that we're able to think, learn and perceive. The complexity of our three pound brain is beyond belief. We have thirteen million brain cells which help us store away all our experiences since birth- all of our actions, perceptions, and all of our sounds, tastes and smells. Even more complex, within the brain cells God placed more than one thousand billion billion protein molecules. And, assisting our brains in the control of our bodies, we have been given four million pain-sensitive structures, five hundred thousand touch detectors, and two hundred thousand temperature detectors.
Then God gave us dominion over all creatures of the earth, and powers to plan, create, laugh, imagine, love and pray. Our God loves us so much He even has a special name selected for us in heaven!
Thank you, Loving Lord. It is no wonder David said in Psalm 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful."
