Deut 18:19; 'It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.
Deut 18:20; 'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.'
Deut 18:21; "You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'
Deut 18:22; "When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

These days it seems everyone is a prophet. A quick search on youtube comes up with over 200 "True Prophets of God". Hmmm... and yet they don't all agree with each other. Does God disagree with Himself?
So how do you know who the real prophets are?

It's funny there is a very large church here on in Western US. They claim to have several well known prophets. They even teach prophecy classes.
I have a little bit of a problem with that, because I don't think the gift of prophecy can be "taught". There is no record of it being "taught" to anyone in the Bible. Either they had the gift, or they didn't.
In 1Cor 12, it says the Holy Spirit decides who gets what gifts, we don't get to choose the ones we want.

1Cor 12:11; But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

All that aside, I watched several of these prophets over the years, and there is one group in particular I was watching. They prophesied Donald Trump would win a second term, when he didn't win immediately
they prophesied things would be revealed and he would be given the presidency within 90 days. When that didn't happen they changed it to one year. Of course that didn't happen either. They then moved to Covid-19.
It's be gone in a month, then 3 months, then 6 months... you get the idea. Of course it eventually did die down here in the US, but it took almost two years. I guess if you wait long enough your prophecy will come true?
A couple of them said that current Governors of the 3 most western states would be voted out. That didn't happen either.

I've had some people who have gone to some of these "prophecy classes". Prophesy over me. I was going to be a missionary to Portugal, that was 7 years ago, it hasn't happened yet.
I have also had people prophesy over sicknesses and health problems I've had over the years. They "prophesied" over my sickness and disease that it would be removed immediately.
Now a couple of years later, I still have the same health problems. Don't get me wrong, I believe God can heal me. But the point here is... at what point are these people determined to be false prophets?

Now maybe you're allowed to be wrong once or twice, I don't know. But if you're wrong 10 out of ten times... maybe you aren't really a prophet. Maybe... you're.. ( dare I say it? ) .. a false prophet.

1Cor 14:26 What is it then, brethren? When ye come together, each hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath an interpretation. Let all things be unto edifying.
14:27 If any speaketh in a tongue, let it be by two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret:
14:28 but if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
14:29 And let prophets speak by two or three, and let the others discern.
14:30 But if a revelation be made to another sitting by, let the first be silent.
14:31 For ye all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted;
14:32 (and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets;
14:33 for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace), as in all the churches of the saints.

Thus when we come together for a worship meeting we operate the three voice gifts of the Holy Spirit - tongues, interpretation, and prophecy.
Decently and in order as instructed to in 1Corinthians 14.
Now the gifts of prophecy are not foretelling or tomorrow's news.
Rather they are inspired speaking by the Spirit of God addressing mostly issues of concern about our walk and our faith and what we need to do to improve our godliness.
If there are references to future events it is never described in specific terms [and certainly not about any one individual] again warnings are given in general terms to alert us to coming tribulations.
Before the Wuhan Corona virus pandemic hit us really bad and all public church services were closed down and we had to live stream over the internet and do communion at home - God spoke only
with the warning that there would come soon a time when we would not be able to worship together like we are used to doing. And it was so.
But from time to time there are more severe warnings about what is coming upon the Earth and that we need to keep the faith and remain steadfast and strong in the Spirit.
God has warned us that the faith of many will fall away. Which makes sense as so many Christians believe in the prosperity gospel and wealth investments.
All of which will not be worth a cracker biscuit when that first nuke goes off.

To much have to be considered during that era. Uneducated, illiteracy, poor, homeless, no work, hardly any Amanuensis no good lighting no papyrus, like you can run down to Walmart, animal skins was not that important for the use for the poor for writing and who could write let alone read. yes The Pharisee and The Scribes, The Sudducee's, who had the one to pay for the Professionals, Tax collectors could write and read. these people to go the temple for regular services, Those institutions was for the Temple priest the Pharisee and The Sudducee's. They did not have any churches they may have assembled in one room shack! with no windows! These people where "Ignorant", Do we read out bibles or do we imagine stuff? There was no such thing as "FORD motor Company" They thought JESUS was dumb and Ignorant and A Lunatic! in his Own town where he grew up, of course he grew up respecting his parents and everyone saw that, that is why He grew up in favor of man and GOD.

The Boy Jesus at the Temple
…"Then He went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But His mother treasured up all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

People notice how you treat your parents when you are growing up!

Amplified Bible
“Honor (respect, obey, care for) your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged in the land the LORD your God gives you.

He never went to school, NAZARETH was a GHETTO TOWN! Nothing Good comes out of "NAZARETH"!

Do any one want a Reading class on how to read the Bible?

Just asking.

Waggles

Do not pay me any mind ok, just messing around ok.

If false prophets did not make large sums of money from being false prophets, there would likely be no false prophets.

Hello B-A-C,

Yes, the word of God spoken through the mouths of Moses, Elijah and the other Old Testament prophets, were precise and clear, and carried out to the letter. In the Scriptures we have the sum of all prophecy, and we await it's further fulfilment, with the assurance that it will indeed be fulfilled precisely as foretold, in the same way as those prophecies that were fulfilled at that time.

'Let God be true
and every man a liar'

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
