Here are some of my favorite verses/passages:
Matthew 7:21 & 24 Your heart will be where your treasure is...You cannot serve God and wealth
Matthew 16:24-25 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses and follow me. Those who want to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives for me will find them.
John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the one who brings people back to life, and I am life itself."
1 Corinthians 1:20-25 Where is the wise person? Where is the scholar? Where is the persuasive speaker of our time? Hasn't God turned the wisdom of the world into nonsense? The world with its wisdom was unable to recognize God in terms of his own wisdom. So God decided to use the nonsense of the Good News we speak to save those who believe. Jews ask for miraculous signs, and Greeks look for wisdom, but our message is that Christ was crucified. This offends Jewish people and makes no sense to people who are not Jewish. But to those Jews and Greeks who are called, he is Christ, God's power and God's wisdom. God's nonsense is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength
1 Corinthians 13:13 So these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the best one of these is love
Philippians 3:13 This is what I do: I don't look back, I lengthen my stride and I run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God's heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus
Hebrews 4:12 God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet.
Hebrews 12:25-26 He chose to suffer with God's people rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a little while. He thought that being insulted for Christ would be better than having the treasures of Egypt.
