I have been really trying to find God in these last few months but honestly have no idea how to start. I've tried praying, but I just feel silly when I do it and I'm currently waiting on a bible (ordered online) but do have one on my phone. Any thoughts?

Greetings @Morew915

May I ask, do you feel silly talking to your friends?

John 15:10-17 (NKJV)
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.
11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

Talk to Jesus as you talk to your friends, talk to Him in prayer, I would suggest reading all of this chapter in John.

Proverbs 3:5-8 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

Jesus loves you my friend, we do too.

You may also find 'You Version Bible' handy to have on your mobile phone, if you search the App it is a brown covered bible with the words Holy Bible on the front.

There are lots of short scripture stories to encourage you, verse of the day, the Bible in a number of popular versions, you can also listen to the Bible if you wish.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Enjoy the forum

Bless you

I don't, know. I guess it's a good comparison. What's there to feel silly for right?

Nothing at all, nothing at all.

Philippians 4:6-9 (NKJV)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Bless you

I'll tell you how I found him. I used to be a heroin addict on the brink of death. I had doubt that he was real but I was desperate because I knew if I didn't do something I was going to die. So one night I got on my knees and asked God to show me that he is real. And he did. He pulled the veil between me and the spirit world from my eyes. He did this for two reasons. The first, to show me he's real and the second to show me the source of my addiction. It's a really long story about the supernatural things that happened in between but I'll just tell you I came face to face with the demon who was following me around and tempting me. I was told many things about demons and the many ways they attack people. I eventually stopped thinking about demons and began focusing all my attention on God. I isolated myself for 2 years and I began talking to God everyday recognizing that he is with me all the time. I talk to him more than my parents or my friends. I actually pushed everyone out of my life and paid all my attention to him. I don't mean in praying all the time, I mean talking to him and praying. As time went on I began to get closer and closer to him. I began to feel bad about all the sin I committed against him. The last time I went to church was 15 years ago when I was baptized. I never knew anything about the Bible and here, because I was spending so much time with God that I was repenting and didn't even realize it. He ended up writing the Bible on my heart, learning everything from him without even reading it. But that doesn't mean I don't read it now. It just means that I naturally new everything that was in it before I read it. It is still important to read it. Another thing, I learned from him is that when many people pray they pray with little or no faith because of that little bit of doubt that the devil tries to place in your head. I am here to tell you that God is real and I know this because he revealed himself to me fully because of the amount of time and effort I put into spending time with him. So when you go to him go to him confidently and boldly knowing that he is there because I told you that he is real and I would not lie to you, especially about something this serious. the next time you pray and you get that little nagging doubt that makes you feel funny and makes you feel like you are talking to yourself, you stand up and you rebuke the devil and you tell him that you know God is real and there is nothing he can say that can make you change your mind about that. Shut out everything else and focus all your time on God but without expecting anything, and because you want to. It has to be because you want him and not something in return. Let me put it this way. He replaced my dad. I call God my dad, and I call my biological father my Earth dad. I really really truly hope this helps you and I will be praying that you find him soon. God bless you.
