Ok, so the question is simple.

How would you rate yourself as a christian in terms of extremes; fundamentalist, evangelical, or liberal?

Also, why? (using your own personal thought and feelings)

And I would be whatever the bible says I should be. But using quotes from the bible, which extreme is the bible promoting, and why?

Before I answer this, would you be so kind to define in short what these 3 views are? I understand for the most part door number 2, but door number 1 and 3 have me looking back in my memory for a definition. Thanks!

I have been called Jesus freak, zealot and lots of other things but I prefer Christian.
I fundamentally believe the Word of God is absolute truth and I believe evangelism is the call of every believer as this was Christ's command as He ascended.

People often define Christianity as being like Christ. This is pretty vague. The Bible is much more clear. Romans 8.9 says rather plainly "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

I think biblical Christianity would surpass fundamentalism and look more like zealotry. Within the confines of the poll, however, I'd like to think of myself as a fundamentalism, using the scripture as my only definer. Fundamental Christianity gets a pretty bad shake for two reasons: too often adherents don't balance fanaticism with wisdom and they are too interested in fitting neatly into a mould.

For example, abortion is strictly contradictory with Biblical teaching. So Christians who are opposed to abortion are fundamental. Fundamentalists are not those, however, who'll picket an abortion clinic with scripture yet make death threats to those inside. This is folly.

The second part is the tendency that Christians have to reflexively side with anything that calls itself Conservative because of an overlap of ideas. I'm certain there are some homosexuals who have some of the same values that I do yet I neither condone their lifestyle nor would I group myself with them. Yet Christians will side with the Mormon sensationalist Glenn Beck or the drug addled Rush Limbaugh because they call themselves conservative.

I am a fundamentalist Christian and have been called to a holy life. As such, I AM NOT like any other group on earth and while I'm civil and loving to everyone, I consider it to be compromise to seek allies in values. My values come from scripture, my heritage is that I am the child of a Holy God. I'm a royal priest and a member of a holy nation by the blood of Christ.

The fundamental Christian lives of life of prayer and holiness and is characterized by the fruit of the Spirit. They are concerned for political and social issues but don't become entangled in them- their primary interest on earth is soulwinning. They anticipate the soon coming of the Lord and can be found in every denomination.

Do I know how to explain what I am? Hmmm.
What I know is I been born again by the spirit of God and I make it a point to cry out to him, always, in my need for guidance. He loves me when I'm good and he loves me when I'm bad.

For the detail identification for what I am please come with me and lets walk towards the cross right now. The cross where Jesus was nailed to, out of his love for you and for me, the cross where he died and said "It is finished." dying for our sins and me crying out for Gods mercy and then receiving grace by calling on the Lord Jesus. Maybe this might help me understand on how to explain what I am.

On your question sorrow I'm everything God wants me to be in Christ.
So if in any given situation if he moves me to act I act. If he moves me to be silent I be silent. I'm not perfect in practice, yet, but I think he knows that.
But I am commanded to share the gospel to the ends of the earth.

I'm more Charismatic/Christian (just a Christian).

I have went to a Fundamentalist church for a few months, back from Sept. 2004 to July 2005. I thought it was TOO much for me and the lady who always picked me up would get very angry when I didn't show up. There's more things, but I won't delve into those and offend anyone, okay. She would always say, "You will go to hell if you don't attend service". I had to quit and will never (no offense to anyone, okay) go into a Fundamentalist church EVER again. Sorry.

I only go to Charismatic, Bible Churches.

Sorrow: I am very impressed with you for several reasons. For a high-schooler you have asked a very interesting question. And being from Canada, a country I have always wanted to visit peaks my interest. My wife and me have a Chrysler Pacifica made in Windsor, Canada. I have noticed people frpm Canada that I have met have all been kind and informative about your country.

Now about your question, Sorrow. Frankly it's rather hard for some Christians to clearly come to the conclusion of what they are in the terms you ask.
So I will try to state how I see myself, ok? Here goes,,,,,,

I am liberal in my love for my family, friends the church I go to, and I try to be this way to people I meet, if they are open to me. I am evangelistic in sharing the Love the LORD has for us in Christ Jesus. I hope someone has shared with you the wisdom in surrendering to the Love that Jesus Christ has for you. Please notice I am trying not to use words that maybe commomly used in witnessing to you.

Let me rabbit chase for a minute please. I am sixty six years old. I surrendered to Jesus Christ on January 6, 1957, I was eleven years old. I was raised by Christian parents. I went to Church and Sunday School most all of my life. I loved Jesus from as far back as I can remember. At eleven I knew I wanted Jesus Christ as my Saviour, not just as a person who loves me. I came to the point I knew If I died I was old enough that I should make a publis confession I was surrendering to Jesus, and I would live for Him.

Sorrow, we all come to the human conscience that there is a Higher Power ( I don't like using that term) that made all this life and world. We are held accountable for observing what can be known that there is a God. Romans 1:19,20.

Jesus Christ is evident even in our calendar, BC. AD. Even if we use BCE. or ADE. still base it on the birth or Jesus Christ and His resurrection. That is pretty clear and open for everyone to see.

Salvation means Jesus has paid the price for our sins. Have you kept ALL the Ten Commandments? NO one except Jesus has, The Son of God paid the price for mine and your sins. God does not have robots, and tell them (us) what to do. God gives us personal choices as to what we do, in all areas of our life. But God holds us accountable fro how we live our life and most important of all, what have we done with His Son, Jesus Christ. John 3:15-21. 1 John 3:1. 4:8,9,10. 5:11,12. 1 Thessalonians 2:13.

I have attempted to use Scriptures that are not used generally by most to share the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ. I hope you are following me so far.

Sorrow, I think to make this a little briefer I will summerize a bunch. But I will explain more if you wish.

The price for death without your commitment to Jesus Christ is eternal death in Hell. No second Chances. Hebrews 9:27 says that after death comes the judgement. We will be accountable to God Almighty for our surrender to Jesus Christ as our LORD and Saviour, or rejecting Jesus Christ. When we reject Jesus Christ we are in truth saying to God I will pay for my own sins, Whis no one can save themself, they will be sent to eternal punishment in hell.

Sorrow, what do you think? Have you reach the time when you want to confess Jusus Christ as Lord and Saviour and ask Him to Save you? I would really like to know where you are in this now?

As for your question I am fundamental in believing the Bible as the literal WORD of God with no errors. I believe every WORD is God'ds Love letter to us. Our owners manual if you will.

So Sorrow I am all three. I am a Christian Born Again. I am a sinner Saved by Grace, shown Mercy that I do not deserve.

I just have to say...there should be more choices. I am a classicist and where there is debate I default to what the early church was taught regarding what the scriptures mean...as a child of God I am pentecostal (Spirit filled) evangelical (who shares the word and the gospel) and sacramental (believing all who faithe should be baptized and only baptized believers can partake of the Lord's Supper). The Lord led me to Christ through the Jewish understanding of Scripture not the westernized later Greek and I became convinced of Calvinism until I took into account all the word for what it says not what I was taught it means...So where do I fit in? I could check all three...I believe in the fundamentals of the faith (but am not a wooden literalist), I believe we are to preach to the lost to save souls (Christ and the Spirit working in the word and deeds through us) and I believe liberally in feeding the poor, housing the homeless, clothing the naked, healing the sick and so on...and I also relaize I am saved only by His grace deserving condemnation if judged by the Law.

Tough call...!!! Really!
