How do I ask God into my life? I pray, I read the Bible SOME. I worship in my own way, in my home. I believe in the Lord. All this, and I still feel not quite right, like I don't truly have God in my life. How do I forget all the bad things in the past, and ask God to Forgive me for all I have done? How do I continue living a lifestyle for God?

Welcome to the forums. First thing first, you must acknowledge the love of GOD found in Jesus Christ, represented foremost on the Cross. If you do not see the love of GOD for you in what Jesus did on the Cross, then nothing else will ever express His love for you more than this.

I would recommend reading the sticky threads in this forum (get saved forum).

Some to read:

Also, this is a great read someone else wrote:

In the gospel of John ch 14 Jesus said "I am the Way the Truth and the Life"

Without the WAY there is no Going
Without the TRUTH there is no Knowing
Without the LIFE there is no Living.

As you read John ch 14 like the man Nicodemas ask Jesus to come into your heart, into your life....and He will come in. You will have a 'new birth' a spiritual new beginning.

Join yourself to Christian people by attending a Church. I would recommend a Pentecostal Church for there you will come to know the fulness of the Christian Experience. Jesus said that He came to bring 'Life in all its fulness'

God Bless You

Dear Pocahontas

God bless you and God bless you and God bless you, I invoke the blessings of God onto and into your heart and mind and life in Jesus precious name.

One thing I can suggest to you is this:

Whatever you are feeling, sing it out to God, He loves loves loves to hear us sing to Him. There has been many a time when I just sing my feelings out to the Lord alone in my room, I tell Him if i am feeling confused or frustrated, unhappy unloved etc, I sing as honestly and deeply from heart as I can and I must say during and afterwards I always FEEL that I have been heard and that I have CONNECTED to my Father.

:helppc:

Hope this helps you even better than it helps me.
I love you and can't wait to meet you

God bless you again and again and again in Jesus name amen

:love-animated:

Pocahontas,

I have some thoughts about your situation, but first I need a bit more information from you: You live in Canada. Are you in a metropolitan area i.e., in or near Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary, etc? Or, are you in a more remote area with few, if any, churches?

The reason I ask is this: Chad, Stephen, and Beam have given you great advice and I pray you follow it. But, in addition, my thought is to try to get you plugged into a live face-to-face church community if at all possible because its been my experience that meeting face-to-face with other believers and making friends is invaluable to new believers.

This is a great site. There's wonderful online fellowship here and you will be loved and nurtured here. But, I know that in my own life, the hugs and smiles and support I get from my church buddies has been vital to my spiritual growth. And I want to see that happen for you, if at all possible.

A Christians' Struggle

It seems like a small struggle. I do not think I am doing the best I can through the Lord. I am struggling everyday with temptations, and things I know that God would rather me stay away from. It is very hard. I don't know if everyone else can understand what I mean, it is like I know God loves me, and I am trying my best to be a good Christian. Things just get at me, and sometimes I do what I shouldn't, for I know God taught me better. Does anyone else struggle day to day? I am a little scared. When I do something...let me just use an example...I used to be a smoker. I smoke cigarettes for about 5 years off and on. I found after having my two children, I did not smoke. Well, going through a rough time, I found myself smoking again. It was so bad, I felt awful, because i felt like if Jesus is inside me, he wants me to treat my body good, not hurt it. So I started to cry. Is that strange or what? I am trying my best to take the lessons I am learning from TJ, from my Bible, and from what God tells me to be a better person. It is a Christian's struggle...
I never knew how to get saved, and now that I know, what is stopping me from total complete redemption...

I can totally relate to this Poca.... it reminds me of St Paul's words to the Romans (What I affectionately call the 'Do be Do be Do' passage: "For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice......O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?....." (Verses 15-25)

I've not quoted this passage fully. However, I'm sure you get the idea!!! I personally find it rather comforting to note that Paul clearly struggled in this 'battle against the flesh' in the same way that we do.

The point I would like to make is that Paul clearly acknowledges his own sinfulness: the fact that in his flesh 'nothing good dwells'.
And your post clearly demonstrates the same awareness... it's just worded slightly differently that's all.....

Paradoxically, the time to worry would be if you were quite content in your sinful nature and were blissfully unaware of your fleshly state. This is clearly not the case!

To conclude, I would suggest that you read on from the end of Romans Ch 7. Romans Ch 8 verses 1-2 state: "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

The enemy would seek to condemn us; cause us to go, with our sin, and isolate ourselves from the One who can save us.

By contrast, Jesus, by His Holy Spirit will convict us, in the areas where we are struggling, because He loves us and wants us to follow Him effectively and without 'baggage' (Hebrews 12: 1-11)
That is an important distinction!

I hope this helps a little.

Get Saved Now! How do I do it?

Pochahontas, I suggest strongly that you study, not just read, Chapters 1 - 8 of Romans. The apostle Paul went through the same feelings you are experiencing and he gives us good guidance on what to do.

"For it is by grace you have been saved through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God so that no one can boast. (Eph 2:8-9)

Thank you, for letting me know about the apostle Paul. I will
study Romans, because I am struggling so much, and that will be comfort for me to study those chapters and feel strong within the Lord. I am new to all this, so I think that is why I am having these feelings. Thank you.

You are not alone with the struggle. Each person have a struggle whether it small or big. I struggle everyday with my depression. I try to keep God in my mind and Boy! do I pray every time. I simple talk to God and ask him to take over. As for what you said about your past, but having problem with it. I know that feeling. I have done many bad things (sins) I know God forgive me when I asked him but I had trouble forgiven myself. Well, it took me awhile, but finally I did, all I did was give it up to the Lord. I told him to take it, take my problem of not able to forgive myself and give me love to give to myself and to other. Give me a new life that You (the Lord) want me to live. Important part is to believe that Jesus will take it and control it. He is the one who give the strength. Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Luke 1: 37 For with God nothing will be impossible. Keep talking to Jesus, he will give you strength. Just live one day at a time, Only Jesus will get you through the day. :teddybear2:

We are Only Saved , Though Hios simple gospel and accepterd Him From our Heart [Spirit] as LORD and Master!

What many do not appear to understand is ?
He cannot make a New Creature out of us , Unless we totally give Him our Old Creature!

That is Why , We must accept HIM as LORD and Master . only then , Can He become SAVIOR!

1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Dan 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Our OLD MAN ? Is our old spirit!
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Col 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

New man is our new spirit!

Only our spirit gets Salvation!

The flesh is made from the earth ,So it returns to the earth . our new Body is in heaven and made like our new mother !

Gal 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Not sure ? If we are made of that city or like that city?

Sounds like you are under conviction. This is a good thing! When we are a child of the living God, He will not allow us to continue to sin and will thus bring conviction upon us.
You also keep saying that "I am trying my best". Please read John ch. 15 where Jesus states that He is the "true vine". We are the branches, we can only live what we allow Him to live through us. If we don't submit ourselves to His will, then we will always be saying "I am trying my best". Isaiah 64:6 says that "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" but the righteousnesses of Christ is perfect and complete.

The best thing I can advise is to pray and ask God to show you if you are not one of His children, see, we can NEVER become saved until we realize that we are lost. It is only at that point that we recognize that we are in need of a Saviour.

I will be praying for you.

God bless

scriptures that talk on how to be saved

how a man, woman and child is saved from there sins.
what does it mean to believe in the gospel.? to believe means to trust, put faith in adhere to, receive. personal trust in the lord Jesus Christ in what he has done saves the soul. [this belief is not just head knowledge in ones head,] but faith in ones heart. for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;( Jesus) and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ( Romans 10:10).
the gospel of Jesus Christ, Christ died, was buried, and rose again the third day.

moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. for I delivered unto you first of all which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried , and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures"( 1st Corinthians 15:1-4).IN WHOM YOU ALSO TRUSTED , AFTER THAT YOU HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION: IN WHOM ALSO AFTER THAT YOU BELIEVED, YOU WERE SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE. Ephesians 1:12-13). THAT THE GOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF GLORY, MAY GIVE UNTO YOU THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM. Ephesians 1:17).

but I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. for I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ." Galatians 1:11-12).

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of god to salvation to everyone that believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

for the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of god.

But as many as received him, JESUS) to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: john 1:-12}.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. john 1:13}.

JESUS said this in the book of Luke (24:44-47). Then he said to them, these are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of MOSES and the PROPHETS and the PSALMS must be FULFILLED." then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, THUS IT IS WRITTEN, that the CHRIST should SUFFER and on the THIRD DAY RISE FROM THE DEAD, and that REPENTANCE and FORGIVENESS of SINS should be PROCLAIMED IN HIS NAME TO ALL NATIONS, BEGINNING FROM JERUSALEM.

REPENTANCE IS A CHANGE OF HEART/mind WHICH CAUSES YOU TO TURN TOWARD GOD AND AWAY FROM YOUR PRESENT SINFUL WAY OF LIFE, AND TURNING TO CHRIST FOR FORGIVENESS OF YOUR SINS.

TESTIFYING BOTH TO THE JEWS, AND ALSO TO THE GREEKS, REPENTANCE TOWARD GOD, AND FAITH TOWARD OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. acts 20:21). BUT SHOWED first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the gentiles, that they should REPENT AND TURN TO GOD, AND DO WORKS MEET SUITABLE) FOR REPENTANCE. ACTS 26:20).

Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted, but the sorrow of the WORLD PRODUCES DEATH. 2 Corinthians 7:9-10.

2. Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of GOD leads you to repentance. Romans 2:4

Why do we need a savior, God says for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23}.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by Sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have SINNED. Romans 5:12}.

FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH;" Romans 6:23}.

For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Ecclesiastes 7:20}.

WE need JESUS because of our heart condition. THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS, AND DESPERATELY WICKED: WHO CAN KNOW IT?" Jeremiah 17:9).

FOR FROM WITHIN, OUT OF THE HEART OF MEN, PROCEED EVIL THOUGHTS, ADULTERIES, FORNICATIONS, MURDERS, THEFTS, COVETOUSNESS, WICKEDNESS, DECEIT, LASCIVIOUSNESS, AN EVIL EYE, BLASPHEMY, PRIDE, FOOLISHNESS: ALL THESE EVIL THINGS COME FROM WITHIN, AND DEFILE THE MAN. mark 7:21-23).

GOD SAID THESE PEOPLE WHO DIE IN THESE SINS WILL NOT GET INTO HEAVEN.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, Fornication, Uncleanness, Lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, Hatred, Variance, emulations, Wrath, Strife, Seditions, Heresies, Envying, Murders, Drunkenness, Revel lings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. GALATIANS 5:19-21).

BUT the FEARFUL, and UNBELIEVING, and the ABOMINABLE, and MURDERS, and WHOREMONGERS, and SORCERERS, and IDOLATERS, and all LIARS, shall have their part in the LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH. revelations 21:8).

AND even as they did not like to retain GOD in their KNOWLEDGE, GOD gave them over to a REPROBATE mind, to do those things which are not CONVENIENT; being filled with all UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, FORNICATION, WICKEDNESS, COVETOUSNESS, MALICIOUSNESS; FULL OF ENVY, MURDER, DEBATE, DECEIT, MALIGNITY; WHISPERERS BACKBITERS, HATERS OF GOD, DESPITEFUL, PROUD, BOASTERS, INVENTORS OF EVIL THINGS, DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS, WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING, COVENANT BREAKERS, WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION, IMPLACABLE, UNMERCIFUL:

WHO KNOWING THE JUDGMENT OF GOD, THAT THEY WHICH COMMIT SUCH THINGS ARE WORTHY OF DEATH, NOT ONLY DO THE SAME, BUT HAVE PLEASURE IN THEM THAT DO THEM. Romans 1:28-32).

"FOOLS MAKE A MOCK AT SIN. proverbs 14:9}.

AND AS IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MEN ONCE TO DIE, BUT AFTER THIS THE JUDGMENT:. Hebrews 9:27).

AND THIS IS WHY A MAN AND A WOMAN DO NOT COME TO JESUS FOR SALVATION. AND THIS IS THE CONDEMNATION: THAT LIGHT Jesus) IS COME INTO THE WORLD, AND MEN LOVED DARKNESS RATHER THAN THE LIGHT, BECAUSE THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL.

FOR EVERY ONE THAT DOETH EVIL HATETH THE LIGHT, NEITHER COMETH TO THE LIGHT, LEST HIS DEEDS SHOULD BE REPROVED.

BUT HE THAT DOETH TRUTH COMETH TO THE LIGHT, THAT HIS DEEDS MAY BE MADE MANIFEST, THAT THEY ARE WROUGHT IN GOD. john 3:19-21).

A warning from GOD to those that don't believe in the gospel and why.

In whom the god Satan), of this world hath BLINDED the minds of them which BELIEVE NOT, least the light of the GLORIOUS GOSPEL OF CHRIST, who is the IMAGE OF GOD, SHOULD SHINE UNTO THEM.{2 Corinthians 4:4}.

Because of our SIN, we DESERVE DEATH, ETERNAL PUNISHMENT, the WRATH OF GOD. But GOD, because he loves us, has provided a means to have eternal life with him. that means is the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

BUT GOD commendeth his love toward us, in that, while WE were yet SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US." Romans 5:8).

FOR CHRIST also hath once SUFFERED for SINS, the JUST for the UNJUST, that he might bring us to GOD, being put to DEATH in the FLESH, but quickened by the SPIRIT."(1 peter 3:18).

what will the blood of JESUS do?
WHOM GOD hath set forth to be a propitiation through FAITH IN HIS BLOOD." Romans 3:25).

UNTO him that LOVED us, and WASHED us from our SINS IN HIS OWN BLOOD", revelation 1:5).

AND the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin."(1 JOHN 1:7).

IN whom we have redemption through his BLOOD, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS." Ephesians 1:7).

AND having made PEACE through the BLOOD OF HIS CROSS, by him to RECONCILE all things unto HIMSELF," Colossians 1:20).

MUCH MORE THEN, BEING NOW JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, WE SHALL BE SAVED FROM WRATH THROUGH HIM." Romans 5:9).

AGAIN you must RECEIVE HIM. nobody is born into salvation you must be BORN AGAIN OF GODS SPIRIT.

BEING BORN AGAIN, NOT OF CORRUPTIBLE SEED, BUT INCORRUPTIBLE, BY THE WORD OF GOD, WHICH LIVETH AND ABIDETH FOR EVER.(1 peter 1:23).

THAT if thou shalt confess with thy MOUTH the LORD JESUS, and shalt BELIEVE in thine HEART that GOD hath RAISED him from the DEAD, thou shalt be SAVED. FOR with the HEART MAN believeth unto RIGHTEOUSNESS; Jesus) and with the MOUTH CONFESSION is made unto SALVATION. FOR the SCRIPTURE saith, WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH ON HIM SHALL NOT BE ASHAMED.

FOR WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the LORD SHALL BE SAVED. Romans 10:9-13).

DEAR soul, you cannot earn the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD by good DEEDS, CHURCH MEMBERSHIP, SACRAMENTS, BAPTISM, or ANYTHING that YOU DO. IF YOU DO SOMETHING FOR IT, then it is SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

THE BIBLE SAYS, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to HIS MERCY HE SAVED US." Titus 3:5).

BUT to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for RIGHTEOUSNESS." Romans 4:5).

EVEN the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD which is by FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST UNTO ALL AND UPON ALL THEM THAT BELIEVE." Romans 3:22).

FOR by grace are you SAVED through FAITH; and that not of YOURSELVES: it is the GIFT of GOD: not of WORKS, LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST. Ephesians 2:8).

know you not that the UNRIGHTEOUS shall not inherit the KINGDOM OF GOD. BE NOT DECEIVED: NEITHER FORNICATORS, NOR IDOLATERS, NOR ADULTERERS, NOR EFFEMINATE, NOR ABUSERS OF THEMSELVES WITH MANKIND, NOR THIEVES, NOR COVETOUS, NOR DRUNKARDS, NOR REVILERS, NOR EXTORTIONERS, SHALL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.(1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

AND the WICKED SHALL BE TURNED INTO HELL" psalm 9:17).

AND WHOSOEVER WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WAS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE. revelations 20:15).

MY prayer is that you go to your BIBLES and read the SCRIPTURES, the HOLY SCRIPTURES, which are able to make you WISE unto SALVATION THROUGH FAITH WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS.

ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD, AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS: THAT THE MAN OF GOD MAY BE PERFECT, THOROUGHLY FURNISHED UNTO ALL GOOD WORKS.(2 timothy 3:15-17).

21But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

22All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

23Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

24But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

26When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

27Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

28Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Ezekiel 18:21-28

8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

12And they went out, and preached that men should repent. mark 6:12

15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. mark 1:15
