Hello!

I have been with my girlfriend about a year now... And we attend different churches. I feel if we're going to be an effective unity for God then its important that we attend the same church, so would It be wrong if I changed churches for that? Ive been going to church for a few years now (sinse I was 19) but shes been going all her life, so shes grown up in her church and I wouldnt want to take that away from her. And its not exactly a doctrine issue either (we both go to pentecostal churches). What im worried is im not sure about leaving behind the people/ministry in my current church in favour for hers. but if we keep going to two different churches she's going to get over that too. so either way I'm going to be leaving something behind no matter what way I go...

Thoughts anyone?

Grace and Peace.

You're not married so there is no urgency. The relationship is also only 1yr old. You can attend each other's bible study and church events.

I agree with the above, but again you're not married. Changing churches is not like changing shoes, you're dealing with people, personalities, doctrines etc. A dating relationship as the reason to join a church is not a good idea. Visit her church, meet the ministers, attend events, bible study and she MUST do the same.
When and if the topic of marriage comes up, you both can make that decision based on real life experiences and not emotions.

God bless.

@Whirlwind I think @rizen1 hit the nail on the head.

I'd like to add also that it doesn't hurt to discuss attending church together. But keep in mind your only dating and what's important is your personal relationship with the Lord individually.

Pray about it, be led of the Spirit of God and you will know what to do. He gives a peace deep down in your inner man when you go His way.

Yes I agree, it is so vital to make sure the Lord is the most important focus in your individual lives.
And together prayerfully you can commit the church matter to the Lord

And His word says that if you acknowledge Him in all your ways He will direct your paths
That's in His word, so its a promise that won't fail you

Trust Him and He will lead

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

My wife was catholic and me denom..when we met I went to hers and she would go to mine with me when we got married we found a church that agreed with us as a unit until then love her , support her and pray God bind you togather with His love ...again the rest will tend to its self if Gods hand is in it ......Rev
