Psalm 136 opens with words of gratitude to God for His goodness, then goes on to proclaim, “His faithful love endures forever”—twenty-six times. This psalm praises God as His people’s miracle worker, their Creator, their deliverer, and their sovereign Lord. But it reminds us over and over of what is most important: His enduring love.
The Bible’s overarching theme—from the first words of Genesis onward—is that of God’s love. Everything He did, every word He spoke was with an eye toward pouring out His love on a needy but undeserving world.
First John 4:8 tells us that God is love. That means that our heavenly Father loves His people deeply and with an everlasting love, simply because it is in His nature to do so. So dwell in His love every day, spread that love to others, and make it part of your daily communication with Him.
