Prayer for New Orleans, Louisiana
Dear Lord,
We pray for Louisiana and the city of New Orleans right now. We ask for your mercy in spite of the corruption that exists in the town. We pray that the murderers, looters and rapists be brought to justice and that those who were just honestly trapped because of a badly examined levee wall bursting would get the help they need. May many Christians reach out in love and charity and show Your mercy to these people. We also pray that in rebuilding this city they will re-examine the wicked policies of having people dependent on government.
Lord as I understand it, they have now one of the worst situations in dependence on government housing since Chicago closed theirs down. We know that if man, whom You made with dignity and the capacity apart from illness or injury to work, should be treated with dignity and trained and made to work rather than accept government handouts. We understand that many of these along with released prisoners were the ones doing these unseemly acts at a time when people needed help, love, compassion and a helping hand. They scared away rescue bus drivers, robbed and raped their neighbors instead of loving and helping their neighbors and even shot at policemen.
Father bring help and repentance and love and healing to this city. We thank you 3/4 of the people were evacuated ahead of time. We pray for the others, for those who have sought shelter in many other places. Bless and help the rescue workers and others from the Salvation Army, Red Cross and most of all from Your people who are helping and trying to bring hope and love to people who only now see despair.
God also cause us to take this to heart, to pray for our own cities and countries and the world at large that we might not face a similar situation as we have seen many such things happening around the world. Lead us not into temptation to wrongfully use our fellow men, but deliver us from that evil and help us to love others as You first loved us....when we were Your enemies and unlovely.
We ask in Jesus' precious name,
Amen
