God Calls Girls Too

One day, a girl was sitting in the balcony of a large hometown Baptist church.
Although she was about 36 years old, she was more like a girl than a woman.
She'd been a Christian for about 6 years, and she'd grown alot. But she was still kind of afraid of people and depended wholly upon God.

Her husband and her son were not with her. They had decided to stay home. Her husband had been a preacher, but had decided he'd had enough of God. The husband did not make the boy go to church any longer, and the girl had little control over her 9 year old son any more. The girl's daughter was in childrens church downstairs.

As the preacher talked, God began to speak to the 36 year old girl. He said He had a work for her to do. He said, "Do you accept my mission for you?"

She bowed down at the pew, even though everyone else in the balcony and downstairs was standing. She said in her heart, "Yes, Lord, whatever it is, I accept it."

When she stood up, people in the full balcony looked at her funny. Then the minister asked people to come to the altar if the Lord was beckoning. The girl ran down the steps of the balcony and rushed to the front of the church. She told the pastor that God had called her to full-time Christian service.

He said, "Doing what?"

She said, "I don't know for sure, I think I'm going to be working with children, and women maybe."

So she stood before the church and they came and shook her hand and they laughed at her as they left the building. She was a nobody. Who did she think she was? "She's seeking attention," someone said loudly. "Now she thinks she's called to the ministry," the pastor was even heard to say to the associate pastor.

Then one Wed. night, about 10 years later, God directed the woman (she had grown up a lot in those 10 years) to go back to that big hometown FBC church.

So she did. That was May 23, 2007.

By this time, she had re-married and moved back into the town, but attended church in another town.

She was friendly; God took all of her anxiety away. She stood in the foyer waiting for the people to finish the church supper and people spoke to her and she was friendly back to them.

At church she stood up to testify and they handed her a microphone. She spoke of a building, one city-block away from that church, that would make an ideal halfway house/shelter.

The people believed God had spoken to her. They offered to help her. They prayed for her and hugged her and asked her when she would be bringing her husband and children and coming back to their church. Can you imagine?????
The same woman who they had practically chased out of their church, and they were inviting her.

In fact, the woman is taking her daughter and her 2 year old son to that church this morning. The woman's husband is away at guard drill and cannot attend.

The woman feels loved and accepted and is sheltered in the arms of God.
She knows that God is big enough to carry her through anything and everything.

Wednesday night, the woman dreamed of a beautiful, glistening whale jumping up out of the ocean. In her mind, she believes that whale represents the Father. God is in control, and He will be the director of the halfway house/shelter ministry of FBC Milan.

The woman is me. And her daughter and son are Michelle and Caleb

God is in control, and He will be the director of the halfway house/shelter ministry of FBC Milan.

Amen dreamer. What a beautiful testimony to share with us. God is our confidence.

God is so big we cannot imagine.

His love is so deep so wide and so high we cannot get over under or around it.

God bless you dear sister

Thank you so much for your testimony. Yes God calls girls too!
And may God bless you for your faithfulness and your determination to follow through with something you believe in. You didn't run away and retreat, you went away for a short while and used that time to grow and develop and then come back strong in the Lord, ready to face adversity, if need be, but it seems that church also grew in maturity in Christ aswell and were ready to listen to and accept you.

It will be exciting to hear how the shelter project progresses.

I pray that the Lord will use it to help and bless many women and children.

Today I visited an old hospital that was cleaned and renovated and is used as a shelter. They call it The Dream Center. It is in a bigger city, about 30 to 35 miles from where I live.

The director gave me a guided tour and answered every question I could think of.

I gave Diana (the director) a hug and left. It was hot and I needed to get in the car and go home to my kids. Got going on the highway with the air conditioning when the Lord told me to turn around and go ask Diana's last name and get a photo of her for our newspapers in our own county.

So I did, reluctantly. Then as I was leaving, a lady was sitting on the steps in the sun and I said hi to her. She smiled and said hi back. I started off toward my car. "Go sit down beside her and talk to her, " the Lord said.

So I did.

Sometimes it's hard for me to understand why God allowed me to lose my oldest son, Bryce. 'Cause I wasn't an addict, and I wasn't a bad mother, in fact, I was a good Christian mother. Not perfect, but pretty good.

I asked the lady resident on the steps what she wanted to talk about, but she just looked at me and said, "Are you crazy?"

So I started telling her my life story after I left Steve (1st husband) and how I lost my son and how unfair it seems and how I feel sorry for myself sometimes but God has a purpose in everything He allows.

She broke down and tears started rolling down her face, but she was still wordless.

Then she said, "My husband has my two-year old son, and it is not good. I need to get him back."

She showed me a photo of her little boy.

Her husband hit her alot, that's all I know, and she was staying with lots of different people and then she found The Dream Center.

I prayed with the resident that she would be able to get her little boy back and raise him in the Lord's ways.

Then I asked her if she was saved.

"No, I'm not," she said.

She didn't want to pray right then and there to be saved. But we prayed again and I asked God out loud to touch her heart and use the people around her to bring her to Himself.

I asked her if she wanted me to come back and see her and she said, yes please. Gave her my cell phone number and home phone number, but I don't know if she will be able to call, since it's long distance.

It just so happens.....that her mother is a christian and goes to Milan 1st Baptist church....the church where I went and spoke about the halfway house the other night. Small world, eh?

She says her mother is real big on christianity.

She says everyone in (this town I live in) is a big snob. I said I agreed with her for the most part, but not everyone here is a snob. lol. Not me anyway.

I told her I was going to open a shelter in this neck of the woods, and she said she hoped so.

I think today God showed me that he allowed bad things to happen in my life to give me a passion to help those who are hurting. It makes me feel better to know that there is PURPOSE in my pain.

Remember, as you are reading this, that God will not allow anything in your life that He doesn't have a purpose for.

Sometimes we want to stay spiritual babies and have a "cushy" or cushioned life. This is not God's plan for us. We can look in the bible and see that John, Paul, Esther, Abraham, ALL of the Mary's, and other hero and heroines for the Lord, did not have easy lives. Let's grow up and grow into Him.

Let's be who He called us to be as individuals, couples, families, and church members. Let's grow up.

Joel 2:28

This is great news Dreamer, I am so happy for you! And you're absolutely right, GOD does call on women, too!

And it's good that you know when HE is speeking to you Dreamer, for a lot of people don't.

May your walk with GOD be a Blessed One Always! *genesis

<your daughters>

Joel 2:28
28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29. and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.
30. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh.
32. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.

Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of Jehovah; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Acts 21:9 Now this man had four virgin daughters, who prophesied.

Galatians 3:28 There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.

I just want to reiterate that God does call women (and girls) to His service.

Although we are not to be the head of a church and the head of a home (unless we have no husband), we are called to all kinds of ministries.

Do not let anyone tell you that you can't minister in the name of Jesus...just because you are female! That is a lie straight from hell.

Please re-read the scriptures that Jonah provided above. Your hope and your calling is not in vain. The Lord calls women to ministry too. Our missionaries are many times unmarried women, or women working RIGHT ALONGSIDE their husbands.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and He will direct all your paths. Pr 3:5

Cool. Thanks for sharing your testimony. :)

It would have been funny thing from that pastor to say if he really said that...

Dreamer, wow! Praise God for giving you such an awesome testimony! God has truly used you for His glory! Continue having that mentality of victory and you WILL be victorious!

I understand that it's easy to blame God for some of the bad things that happen (I'm not saying that you're blaming Him, I'm just saying in general). You know what I think to make my trials easier to deal with? "If I didn't go through ___________ (fill in the blank- abortion, alocholism, abuse, depression, etc), then I wouldn't be able to help someone else who's going through it!"

Of course anyone is able to quote a scripture to someone who's going through a hard time, but it's different knowing that you've gone through that same thing. It's easier for them to connect with as well being that you have something in common! WOW praise God!!!

Awesome work sister. Keep up the God work! (Get it- God work instead of good work?) ok stupid joke.

God Bless!!!

Hi trulyblessed,

Your right, when one goes through the same hard time another person does, it will probably make it more easier for them to relate with & help understand their feelings.

But to quote a scripture, that's not as easy as some may think.

I have notice in the past, that some people quote scripture blindly, such as not reading the entire Chapter first. Therefore, the scripture is not truly relating to what they may be saying. And a lot of times meaning the opposite of what they are saying.

Now, that mistake is very easy to do. And making mistakes is what we {as imperfect human beings} do best.

To avoid such a mistake, we need to study the scripture before we use it, and - ALWAYS - giving prayer,- FIRST - to {one and only GOD,} The Almighty GOD, and through HIS Son Christ Jesus.

Then & only then will the right scriptures fall into place.

Take your time, you must give in to PATIENCE, and NEVER ASSUME!

Dreamer,
Thank you so much for that testimony. It was nobody but God that lead me to this thread. I'm currently in a ministry that serves men, women, and children of domestic violence. This ministry is fairly new. I hope that someday we can have emergency shelters or transitional housing. I am a leader in this ministry and for the last few weeks I felt like maybe I was in over my head. That maybe the vision I have for this ministry is too out of reach. We have about 10 members, but I don't feel their heart is in it. I'm not to judge them though. I'm just praying. Also, I started a booklet of testimonies from different people. I had the booklets printed up and have been passing them out. I know that someone's testimony can make a difference in a person's life. It can be uplifting, just like your's has been to me today. Thank you so much. God bless you!!!!!

I am encouraged by your testimony that you posted here in this thread today, shon201. :sun: Thanks so much for sharing; keep in touch with us at talk Jesus!

Amen Jan. As Paul says here we are comforted that we may go and comfort others. We can't do that unless we have been there ourselves.

2 Corinthians 1:3,4

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

Shon201:

A couple of thoughts regarding your post: It takes a while for people involved in a new organization to get even close to being on the same page. What you're talking about is "How do I motivate these people?".

May I suggest that you study an old but wisdom-filled book entitled "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. In my opinion, this is the handbook for effective organization building.

I returned to this thread today to rejoice, and I hope you that know me will rejoice with me.

Having a wonderful time in the Lord today, as He is showing me so many things. Here are some of the great and wonderful things the Lord is doing here in my life. (I'm certain He's doing great things in everyone's life here!)

10 years ago, God called me to ministry, but I had an abusive husband, no money, no family, and no self-esteem. On April 12, 1999 my kids and I were living in a shelter for battered women. I didn't feel very "called" of God at all. I felt lower than low. I felt like the bottom of the totem pole. I felt afraid.

I learned to depend fully on God and made lots of mistakes, but also made progress in Him.

Today, I am a different woman in different circumstances, with a new husband and family. You see how God is? He picks anyone HE wants. It's not about human choosing.

1. My #1 enemy used to be Suzette R. at my church. Now she is going to be working
with me in the transitional home (Sparrow House), and I believe God is making us friends instread of enemies.

2. My husband is being healed of past hurts. Our relationship and communication have improved as of late, 100%

3. People here in my county are beginning to accept the fact that God has called me to open
Sparrow House. God is softening peoples' hearts and they are beginning to use their gifts and talents in this newly planned ministry.

4. My husband is getting closer and closer to God

5. Because of the miracles that God is doing before my eyes, I no longer feel defensive and insecure about being in ministry....even though I'm a woman. Because I understand that what He has me to do has nothing to do with male/female. It has to do with Christian love and compassion, i.e., : MINISTRY

It's not about a church, although I love church. It's not about preaching, lol, although I do tend to get excited and preach:) It's about JESUS. It's about reaching out to the lost and showing people the way to be healed and live for Him.

The happiest, most joyful part about realizing that God really has called me.....is that it's not about me!!!!! It's still all about Him; always has been! Always will be! Oh, Praise the Lord, somebody!

Cool. Thanks for sharing your testimony. :)

It would have been funny thing from that pastor to say if he really said that...

That pastor that said "Now she thinks she's called to the ministry", feels quite uncomfortable around me now. I think it's because he realizes he was wrong and that he hurt me by not being supportive and making fun of me?

Always, before we speak about someone or gossip or say something catty, we should ask ourselves, "Would Jesus say this?"

Awesome Scripture!

You picked an awesome Scripture, Sunshine307

The GOD of All Comfort

2 Corinthians 1:1-8 (New International Version)

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

5 For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.

7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

Wow, I had a terrible Wed. night at church last night. Lol, I shouldn't have posted how happy I was yesterday before Prayer Meeting.

I was insulted by several people and given hard looks. I think I had the devil mad.

Jesus reigns and nothing else matters.

Thanks To The Almighty GOD & To HIS Son Christ Jesus...

Lets give Praise to The Almighty GOD, for sending us HIS Only begotten Son Christ Jesus, into this imperfect life of man, for setting us straight, for showing us the way, for His teachings, to know how to Worship, to Honor, to Respect, to Pray, to give praise & Thanksgiving.

Yes, let us give thanks to The Almighty GOD & to HIS Son Christ Jesus!

For if GOD did not allow for Christ to be crucified, to die for our sins, there would be no hope for us, we would not be saved & we would not stand a chance in this wicked world we live in.

Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned—

13 for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.

14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.

15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!

16 Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.

17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.

19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 15:9 (OLD -- American Standard Bible)
8. For I say that Christ hath been made a minister of the circumcision for the truth of GOD, that he might confirm the promises given unto the fathers,

9. and that the Gentiles might glorify GOD for HIS mercy; as it is written, Therefore will I give praise unto thee among the Gentiles, And sing unto thy name.

2 Samuel 22:50 (OLD -- American Standard Bible)
Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises unto thy name.

Psalms 18:49 (OLD -- American Standard Bible)
Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises unto thy name.

So, yes, let us give thanks to The Almighty GOD & to HIS Son Christ Jesus!

And yes, let us give Praise to The Almighty GOD, for sending us HIS Only begotten Son Christ Jesus, into this imperfect life of man, for setting us straight, for showing us the way, for His teachings, to know how to Worship, to Honor, to Respect, to Pray, to give praise & Thanksgiving.
