I'm matt and this is my first post on this forum. I am catholic, however, I admit I don't go to mass as much as I should. I am looking to get some kind of feedback if possible. I has a very powerful dream last night that has me puzzled. A little background without going into a novel about myself. I don't get very good sleep, and I hardly dream, and I don't I get rem sleep, that I know of. Sometimes I wake up 2-5 times a night, but last night was very powerful, and very vivid from what I can recall. (It woke me up, but I didn't get up and write anything down)

It felt like an timeline of my life. I mean, that's really the best description I can give you. Like a blur I guess. It got to a point in my life in 2005 to my car accident that should've, and could've killed me. (Then I heard the voice, but I'll get to that later) I mean that in every sense. I would say thirty seconds or so before the accident happened, somethingor someone told me to put my seatbeat on and I didn't think twice. (I know I know. I was a stupid young kid, since that incident I've never done it again) once that picture of my accident finished, it's hard to explain, but a very loud, very bold voice told me there was a reason he showed me that, and that I need to do something before it's too late. Something along the lines of that.

I immediately woke up. I prayed for a few min but I fell back asleep. Why would God show me only up to that point in my life for? Since then I have to admit that accident took a toll on my life, and it hasn't been the same. I have preeminent injuries. Am I getting ready to die? I'm only 32. What does it mean? Is all this punishment for what I did before the accident? Nothing crazy, but stupid stuff. I understand the obvious, God wants me too repent and turn to him, but why am I shown that part off my life for? That was more then ten years ago.

Welcome to Talk Jesus Matt.
Glad you decided to join here, even if you're a Catholic :-)
Used to be one years ago myself.

Now knowing much about you, it just came to me this verse from the Gospel of John.
"And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock [and] one shepherd. John 10:16
You ask why that part of your life?
It was probably the first time you had done what He has asked of you. The one moment in time you clearly can say that it was not a figment of my imagination and that doing what He asked of you actually changed/saved your life.

As always, you must decide on who you will follow. The World or Jesus Christ.
Here's a link to something that might help you in getting closer to Jesus. I'm assuming it's Jesus that you desire and not the World right? ;)

How to be friends with God

Once again be welcome to Talk Jesus.
With the Love of Christ Jesus, Matt.

@Matt Zeigler - Hello! Nice to meet you. I agree with Nick. The Lord took you to a point in time in your life when you did what he said and it saved your life. That was in the physical world. Now, he is speaking of the spiritual world. A seat belt is something we put across our chests and we securely fasten in place for our protection, i.e. to preserve our lives from death. In the spiritual world this is our salvation. Jesus has provided it for us, just like the vehicle you were driving provided it for you, but you had to put it on. We have to put on Christ and his salvation. We have to accept, not just intellectually, but in our hearts (which are in our chests), what he did for us on the cross for our sins. He became sin for us, although he knew no sin, so that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). He died that we might die to sin and live to righteousness (1 Peter 2:24). Coming to faith in Jesus Christ means we put off our old lives of sin, that we are transformed in heart and mind of the Spirit of God, and we put on Christ and his righteousness, i.e. our new lives in Christ Jesus, "created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness" (See: Ephesians 4:17-24; also Romans 6:1-23). This is your spiritual seat belt. Jesus is telling you, I believe, that you need to put him on, i.e. you need to apply his salvation to your life, and it needs to be firmly in place, not just a causal thing. If you want to live, you must first die with him to sin so you can be resurrected to new life in him (See: Luke 9:23-25 and Romans 8:1-14). And, he is saying this is urgent! You don't know if you have tomorrow, so you need to put this spiritual seat belt on today. He wants you to take him as seriously now as you did then, because he wants to save your life, and time is obviously running out. I will pray you put that spiritual seat belt on now, and that you will not delay. It will save your life!

Gift of God / An Original Work / October 25, 2016
Based off Various Scriptures

Jesus Christ, Son of God,
Died for us on a cross;
Conquered death, sin, and hell,
So, with Him, we would dwell.

For, by His grace, we are saved.
He set us free from all sin.
Thanks be to God for His Gift.
Through faith in Him, we’re forgiven.

Holy Spirit of God,
Given to us who believe,
Gives us new life in Christ;
Made to be just like Him.

We died with Christ to our sin.
New lives in Him we begin,
Walking with Christ day by day.
We read His Word, and we pray.

Jesus, He is our Lord.
Follow Him where He leads.
Tell the world of His grace.
We’ll see Christ face to face.

Soon He is coming again.
We’ll be forever with Him.
He’ll wipe our tears all away.
Oh, what a wonderful day!

Am I getting ready to die? I'm only 32. What does it mean? Is all this punishment for what I did before the accident?
Doesn't come across that way for me.
Rather my insight is that you were saved from the car accident because Jesus has a plan for you, and is calling you to respond to the next stage of your faith.
Jesus may well send some saints to preach to you the full gospel of salvation and to bring you to a more Bible obedient faith.
Listen and respond. Pray for guidance.

But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:23-24

Thank you all for taking time to give me your insights. I have a better understanding as to what God wants from me. How do i put on Jesus' salvation?

Concentrate on and get encouraged in learning the true doctrine of Christ.....
The verse is very powerful enough to guide you in coming to know Jesus.... True worship, true faith, true love, True God... John 4: 23- 24...

By yielding your heart and life over to God/Jesus, believing in Jesus to be Lord and Savior of your life, and by turning from sin, and turning to God to walk in his ways, in his truth, and in his righteousness and holiness - all in the power and working of God's Holy Spirit within you. When Jesus becomes Lord of our lives, he becomes the owner-master of our lives, and we are now his servants. We now live our lives to please our Lord and to walk in his ways rather than conducting our lives according to our sinful flesh. This is not saying we will never sin, but sin should no longer be our master. Jesus died to free us from slavery to sin so that we could become servants of his righteousness. Humble yourself before God, confess your sins to him, thank him for what he did for you in dying on a cross for your sins, pray for forgiveness, willingly choose to leave your life of sin behind you, and follow (obey) Jesus, again, in the power of God's Holy Spirit. Submit your life to him, and let him rule your heart. And, this is not just one time. What I mean is that the Christian life is a day-by-day walk of faith, surrendering to our Lord, fleeing sinful desires, resisting Satan and drawing near to God. Trust him with your life every day. Study his Word every day, pray, and do what his word says, and follow him wherever he leads you. I believe, too, that God spared your life for a reason, and that he has something he wants you to do.

Hi Matt. I agree with Waggles. Your testimony here is awesome and I would like to share a couple of things that happened to me which is similar. I was a teen at the time and although I knew Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I was just doing my own thing at the time. One day I was traveling with a group of friends who were non believers when suddenly, I got this strong impression that we needed to stop quickly. I yelled at the driver to stop and he did, right in front of some rusty old railway tracks that were hidden by overgrown vegetation. I would hate to think what would have happened if we hit those lines because they stuck out from the ground and I think we could have easily flipped the car.

Another time I was a passenger with group of friends [non believers] and we were traveling to the city in a "Ute" [which is a like a lite truck with a trailer built into the back end] We were traveling about 123kms-125kms p/h, when I fell asleep. When I awoke, we had gone off the road and I was looking at a farm fence which was coming up on us very quickly. I turned toward the driver and he was asleep as well as the passenger next to me. Suddenly my life passed before my eyes and I knew I could be meeting my maker very soon...so I began to pray. I repented of sin, I thanked the lord for his hand on my life and I prayed for my companions. I also asked that if it is his will, I get the chance to fulfill that plan he has for my life. Just then, the driver woke up and instead of braking, he slammed his foot on the accelerator and we flew through that fence [missing the power poles entirely]. The fence ended up wrapping itself around the Ute and friends that were also asleep in the trailer bit at the back, woke up. The Ute spun a few times and then there was silence. We checked ourselves and then the others and found we were all okay. Fortunately we had a pair of wire cutters and cut ourselves out. The farmer was a bit annoyed but happy that we were okay. Thank goodness his cows didn't get out.

I believe God allows things to happen to us when we are inadvertently straying but he also gives us a warning when we have strayed too far and shows us his mercy and love by giving us opportunities to get back to the heart of our worship . 2 Peter 3:9

When I read this topic, I felt warmth, and happiness. You are very good and kind members. Tnx.
