And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ. Philippians 1:12-13 NLT
When Paul endured difficulties, he looked beyond his own situation. Despite his chains, the Gospel message had been loosed throughout the palace in ways he likely never would have achieved as a free man. While Paul’s imprisonment meant the loss of a vitally important witness for the church, others grew in boldness to imitate Paul’s reliance on God’s power. They saw his sacrifice and faith, and they realized that God would reward them for whatever they might lose here on earth.
If you suffer setback or loss, it’s natural to feel discouraged and to mourn the situation. But as you entrust your challenges to God, you can find renewed hope in the rewards He promises, the gifts He can unleash in you, and the ways that others can take steps forward as well. Sharing the new life of God is a team effort where others can step in to help when you have grown weary.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You with my whole heart in the midst of discouragement and loss so that I can faithfully share Your message with others.
