Blessed [is the man] You choose, And cause to approach [You], [That] he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple. Psalm 65:4 NKJV

Many people struggle with the idea of God choosing His own, yet the idea appears throughout scripture. Certainly God chose David, the author of today’s scripture, for relationship and blessing in a very powerful way.

The Bible also teaches human responsibility for sin. It goes to our very conception (Psalm 51:5), affects everyone (Romans 3:23), and puts us all under a sentence of death (Romans 6:23). Apart from God’s intervention, we are doomed.

Exactly how and why some people are saved is known only to God—and His grasp of such mysteries is a huge distinguishing factor between Him and us. If we could understand everything about God, He wouldn’t be God…we would. Clearly, that’s not the case.

So, trusting as Abraham did that “the Judge of all the earth” will do right (Genesis 18:25), let’s be grateful that God looked with kindness on each of us who follow Jesus. We as Christians enjoy God’s greatest mercies—which we should be eager to pass along to others.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me and causing me to approach You. May I always appreciate Your gift of salvation. Please empower me to share this good news with others.
