God gave me assurance of my salvation and joy.

I had been asking God for many months now for the assurance of my salvation. Daily, I was plagued with attacks from the enemy, saying that I am not saved, and that God was a bad God. I had often lost my temper at God, because I felt that He wasn't giving me what I wanted. I seemed to have something against Him, as if He were doing things wrong. I was very troubled.

But just recently, God has opened my eyes. He has shown me His love and how good He is. I was reading a book called "Prison to Praise" by Merlin Carothers, and after reading it, I was astonished at how being thankful to God in all situations really gives you peace. I started thanking God, even in the bad circumstances, and all of a sudden, I received the peace and joy from the Holy Spirit.

God has done so much for me that I am trying to think of where to begin. He let me see how wonderful His gift of salvation is, through Jesus Christ. I had known about salvation before, but I hadn't truly grasped how glorious it was, because it's by faith, and no works we do can get us salvation. He has been cleansing me from all of my idols. He has been doing a work in me. I truly feel the love and peace from God, and sometimes I can't seem to contain my joy.

When I woke up this morning, I felt like praising God. I even thought to myself as I looked outside, "Everything seems brighter now," He has shown me that it's not about "doing things" but about our heart attitudes. I just can't thank Him enough.

If I could give any advice right now, I would say, praise God in all situations, no matter what the circumstances. Job says it clearly in Job 2:10: “Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” God is the wonderful controller of all things. He controls all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “…in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

God wills for us to be thankful in everything. It's difficult when we become happy only by our circumstances, because circumstances can always change. But God never changes.

I pray that this will be a blessing to you.

The best way to be assured of your salvation is by reading the Bible everyday, especially the Gospels.
