Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You [are] there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You [are there]. Psalm 139:7-8
David's questions in today's verses might make it seem as if he actually wanted to find a way to separate himself from God, but that wasn't true. Earlier in the psalm, he listed many of the ways that God was close to him. Instead, he was making the case that God is everywhere and always sustains His people.
That's not to say that His people don't hide from Him or pull away from Him during times of sin or hardship. But the great news is: He's never far away. You can trust that about Him. Does this provide great comfort to you, or does it strike fear in your heart? The truth is, it should probably do a little of both. You can't hide from God, but in spite of your sin, He sees you through the lens of Christ.
What can you do to be more aware of His presence in your everyday activities? How might becoming more aware change your routines and further your sanctification process?
Prayer; Father, I can't escape Your presence. I praise You for being such a personal God that You never leave me alone. You love me too much to abandon me.
