None at all is like You, O Lord; You are great, and Your name is great in might. Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For it is fitting to You and Your due! For among all the wise [men or gods] of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You. Jeremiah 10:6-7 AMPC
If we accept the Bible’s account of origins, we should recognize the absolute supremacy of the God we serve. He predated and created the physical universe we inhabit. His wisdom and power brought matter and life into being where none had existed before. He simply spoke to produce vast, star-filled galaxies and one particular planet, perfectly suited for life, that enjoys His special attention. What other “god” or theory or superstition can even vaguely compete with the I AM?
We as Christian men know this mind-boggling God personally. In a limited way, or course—but He has allowed us to understand enough of His majesty to recognize Him as our source of life and hope. With a God like this for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)? Why would we ever fear any person or idea or circumstance that arises in opposition?
Life is difficult. But our God is supreme. When we follow Him by faith, we can trust that He has every situation in hand, for our ultimate benefit and His ultimate glory.
Prayer: I praise You, Lord, for Your wisdom and power.
