And this day shall be to you for a memorial. You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations, keep it as an ordinance forever. Exodus 12:14 AMPC
It wasn’t just the first of what would be an annual celebration. What happened on the last day of the Israelites’ slavery in Egypt was the beginning of a memory of God’s faithfulness. Just one more night and the king of Egypt would let the people go.
This wasn’t a memorial to Moses—he was simply following God’s orders. This feast was a celebration of something more. It was remembering the time of endurance and oppression. It was also a time of release and rejoicing. The One who made it happen was God. The king knew it—the people knew it. There was no doubt this was God’s doing.
You may not celebrate a specific date, but you probably remember a time when God showed up and did something that could not be explained any other way.
God encourages you to remember His faithfulness—not once, but daily. This is a foundation stone in any act of worship. God is great and deserves honor. This Passover celebration can remind you that God can do what you can’t, and when He shortens the time you endure trouble—praise Him.
Prayer: God, I can get into trouble without Your help. When I need rescue, I will need You. When Your plan rescues me, help me remember gratitude.
