God's Peace - Day 3

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." – Colossians 3:12-17

Meditate

1. Read this passage five times over. What speaks to you most from it?
2. Do you know anyone who truly does "all in the name of the Lord Jesus"? Is that really possible for any Christian? If not, why not?
3. This is a great list of instructions on how to have peace. Which command are you the best at? The worst? How can you improve on it this week?

Pray

"Jesus, I want to have your peace. Give me the strength to do all these things that cultivate a peaceful, joyous heart. Where am I strong, God, and where am I weak? What needs to change in my life? Provide me the power I need to accomplish these risky, difficult tasks for your glory."

Go Deeper

Make a list of all the commands in the passage for today. On a scale of 1 to 5, how well do you follow each of those commands? Spend at least three days praying about that command which you are the weakest in following.
