Hello everyone.

My name is Simen and I live in Oslo, Norway.

This is quite a long and thorough introduction but hey! why beat around the bush?

I have been a believer all my life. However I made a descission to actually follow Jesus about 9 years ago. Unfortunatly do to past influence(drugs) and bad teaching I slowly started to fall away from Christ once more. I was burdened by guilt and due to my perspective of God and the bible I lived in constant fear of Jesus returning and leaving me behind.
This winter I started to do some research on my own and found out that alot of my understand of the bible and Jesus was wrong. Due to this my house of cards fell apart(borrowed that anology from this site btw ) and I sort of lost my footing. I realised that I had built my foundation on others perspective and view of the word and world and not really spent much time verifying what I heard acroding to the bible. I am not saying that they purposly was teaching me wrong stuff but I had totally missed the message about grace and guilt and sin and all that.

Now I am trying to fix all this by actually finding out what is truth and building my foundation on Jesus and his words and not the interpretations of man. This includes cration/evolution, The bible, Grace etc.
This last month I have been especially interested in the whole young earth/old earth discussion because I realised that depending on what stand you take on this particular subject depends fully on how you interpent the bible. Do you read it as complete truth of both spiritual truth and historical event of creation or do you read it figurativly and try to to see the big picture, the sum of the word.
I find this to be very challenging and very important. If you take some things figurativly like for instance creation and the flood, whats stopping you from taking other things figurativly?
I discovered some creation evangelism websites and was right away very exited of all the proof that we could find for creation. However I found other creation sites also christian showing that alot of the proof I found on the first site really was prooven wrong and and again I had been mislead to believe false information. I have found one serious creation site however that seem profesional.
Utlimatly again I see that the oppinion of man and his perspective is often colored by his own views and interpretation so all I can really rely on is God and his word. But with my limited intelligance and knowledge it is difficult.

These are the questions that led me to this site.

I want truth and I am searching for it. I want a real foundation this time that is buildt on truth and jesus and that wont be shaken.

Creation verses Other

Hi brother: try to take the word of God literally at all times, only the the ones called of God or come to him in faith, understand most of its spiritual meanings (ie the mysterys of the Kingdom of God), a saint is led by the spirit after conversion. He will show you a lot of things men can't, but he will also show you by other saints as teachers his will as well, we get this in prayer. Ask God and don't stop till the answer comes, but remain faithfull no matter if he shows you all there is to know or not, because the lord did say deny yourself and take up your cross. I see you say you knew God all your life, sometimes it will take a long time to really be converted by God, he does it in his own time, Peter knew Christ but wasnt fully converted to see his love, sometimes this takes time, with some it is immedeatly, with others it takes time...

As a new born christian we are required to drink milk, not meat, meat is for them who are of full age:star: So be patient... you have no idea how much Christ loves you So we must grow, and it takes time to grow, enjoy your new found love of Christ let him feed you his compassion as you grow. Im going to start a tread here soon on new christians and show them the love of God for them Enjoy his mercy, embrace his grace, he is all loveing to his children:star: Pray to him in faith and peace with love, and he will direct your path, we are saved by his wonderful grace and love, not by works lest any man should boast...:shade:

God bless you brother...pray with faith, and see his power of love for you.
I was watching TV once,:star: and a woman said out load, well it seem loader than the actual volume of the TV set at that time, lol only between me and Christ, no one else heard it the way i did, and she said i want to tell you something, i love you. And at that moment the holy ghost of God rested upon me

It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance...

Hello 'chinaski'....and welcome to 'talkjesus'. We are so pleased to read that you are now following Jesus. Don't turn back brother.....following Jesus gets better with the following. A Christian song expressors "The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows" Many fall away before they have gotton to know Jesus.
