Halloween Memory
When I was young my family went to a party in an old barn. We drank cider and bobbed for apples in a washtub full of water. We tried to eat apples hung from rafters with our hands behind our backs. There was pumpkin pie and so much other food as always at these events. There where straw bales all around the sides of the open area so we could sit down and talk. The floor of the barn was covered with loose straw. You can think of the things kids will do in a situation like this. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my youth.
But the thing we did that seared this particular party into my mind forever happened when they turned the lights out. Everyone sat on the straw bales in a very large circle while someone began to read a scary story with a small light. After the mood was set the reader began to describe some one being butchered with a big knife. I have a very good imagination and it was really working that night. Then they began passing things around the circle of people and told us they were parts of the person. Remember it was dark. There were eye balls and guts and brains ect… I will never forget that party.
