I, [even] I, [am] he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Isaiah 43:25 KJV
We’ve all felt guilty over things we’ve done or failed to do in the past. Guilt can be a useful emotion—when it’s due to sin we know we need to confess to God and then stop doing. But it can also be a heart anchor that can hold us down and keep us from living that abundant life Jesus promised those who follow Him.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, you have the privilege of confessing your sins to God, knowing He will forgive you (see 1 John 1:9). You needn’t dwell on guilt over your past mistakes and sins. And when you find yourself feeling guilt, you can spend some time dwelling on these words from today’s scripture verse.
God didn’t save you, forgive you, and set you on a new path in life so that you could spend the rest of your days being eaten alive by guilt over your past sins. So learn from your past mistakes and sins and become a better man of God through what you’ve learned, but don’t ever let yourself believe, for even a moment, that God holds that which He has forgotten against you.
Prayer: Merciful God, help me to never forget that when You forgive my sins, You bury them in Your own divine, willful forgetfulness.
