Any thoughts on this subject of aspects of repentance would be appreciated.
Thanks.

So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. Mark 6:12 NLT

What did Jesus and early Christians mean when they used the word repent? The New Testament presents ten important aspects of repenting.

First, it means you reject and turn away from something (sin). Second, it means you accept and turn toward Someone (the Lord). Third, it means you believe in Jesus Christ and His Good News (Mark 1:15). Fourth, it means you receive the Lord’s forgiveness of your sins (Mark 1:4). Fifth, it means you become a citizen of God’s kingdom (Mark 1:15 again). Sixth, it means the angels in heaven celebrate your conversion (Luke 15:10). Seventh, it means you are willing to be baptized as a believer (Acts 2:38). Eight, it means you receive the Holy Spirit within your heart (Acts 2:38). Ninth, it means you prove you have changed by the good you do (Acts 26:20). Tenth, it means you continue to turn from sin back to the Lord (Revelation 3:3).

So do all ten aspects of repenting resonate with you? If yes, great! If no, stop everything and talk it over with the Lord right now.

Don’t let it be said of you: “If only he had fully repented.”

Prayer: Lord, I want to fully repent and keep turning back to You. With Your help, may that be my daily experience in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
