Hello @Twistie,

This chapter (Isaiah 8) has made an impression upon you, especially the words highlighted. You must feel that this Scripture is applicable in regard to what is happening in the world at this time. Yes? Though this word had an application for another time, yet I can identify with the words written here:-

' For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand,
and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,
Say ye not, "A confederacy," to all them to whom this people shall say, "A confederacy";
neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

.. Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself; (see 1 Peter 3:15)
.... and let Him be your fear,
...... and let Him be your dread.
........ And He shall be for a sanctuary; ... '
(Isa 8:11-14a)

* Into my mind comes another Scripture:-

'Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
.. for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
.... and what communion hath light with darkness?
...... And what concord hath Christ with Belial?
........ or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
.......... And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
............ for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them,
.. and walk in them;
.... and I will be their God,
...... and they shall be My people. (see Leviticus 26:12)
........ Wherefore come out from among them,
.......... and be ye separate, saith the Lord, (Isaiah 52:11)
............ and touch not the unclean thing;
............... and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you, (2 Samuel 7:14)
and ye shall be my sons and daughters,
saith the Lord Almighty.'
(2 Cor. 6:14-18)

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

Hi @Twistie,

As I thought about the words I typed out from 2 Corinthians, that I quoted in my previous post, and considered to whom they were spoken: and also of God's words, spoken by Isaiah, which you quoted in your OP; I considered to whom they were initially addressed (Isaiah 1:1 & 2:1). For as I read the words of 2 Corinthians they did not appear to be written to me, as a member of the Body of Christ. But, of course, the letters written by Paul to the Romans, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1&2 Corinthians, Galatians and Hebrews, were written during the period covered by the Acts of the Apostles, and so although instructive, are not directly addressed to the Body of Christ. For if you look at the words I quoted from 2 Corinthians, they are directly quoted from the Old Testament Scriptures, which also have nothing to tell us about the church which is Christ's Body, that knowledge having been hid in God (Ephesians 3:9 & 2:3) until divinely revealed to Paul, and proclaimed in the Epistles of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon from Paul as the Lord's Prisoner. At the time of the writing of 2 Corinthians, Israel was still 'first', Paul visited the synagogue first in any town on his missionary journeyings, for the Jew still had pre-eminence. It was only in Acts 28:28 that salvation was sent to the Gentiles, and ceased to be exclusively 'of the Jew', and the church which is the body of Christ was created (Ephesians 1:22-23).

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
