(Jeremiah 33:3 NIV) "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
(Exodus 19:19 NIV) "...and the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him."
When I talk to God he listens. When I listen he talks to me. This is apparently an unusual thing to happen in this day and age. I've spoken to many Christians and the vast majority of them claim that they either haven't heard God speak to them or they are unsure if God spoke to them.
I don't know what to say to those who haven't heard God's voice. The bible is clear when Jesus speaks saying, (John 10:27 NIV) My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
If we claim to be saved; if we claim to be one of his sheep; the bible says that we will hear the voice of God.
I was talking to the Lord about this today and I asked him why I heard him and others don't hear him. His answer was so simple I had to ask him a second time to be sure that I'd heard him correctly. "Tim, you listen to me and do what I tell you to do."
In a world that is so filled with activities that we hardly seem to have a spare five minutes to relax it isn't surprising. I get busy too. Some days I don't think to speak to him. When I have days like that I feel like something deep inside me is off. I only find my peace again when I remember that I haven't spent time with Him.
Be sure that you spend time waiting to hear his voice after you speak with him. You would do the same thing if you were in a conversation with anyone else. God should receive no less respect.
