Hi,
I hope it is ok for me to be here. I read the Bible and sometimes pray. I've read about the holy spirit but it doesn't come to me. I don't feel anything. My heart feels quite empty and I feel there is no place for me.
I'm open to being a Christian but I don't know if Jesus will come to me.

Hi!
If you want to be filled with the Spirit, you can better go to a church where someone lays hands on you to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. To receive that first you need to get saved. Knock and the door will be opened. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to accept you as His kid. He turns none down who comes to Him.

Hello LostButTrying,
Welcome to Talk Jesus and this online Community of Christian Believers!

Reading the Bible, and sometimes praying is good, but both are like starting the race halfway through, while what you need is to start at beginning which comes with belief and repentance. You're at a good place in what you do, for scripture says "But without faith [it is] impossible to please [Him], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and [that] He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.."

Now in addition to what Newname has mentioned in part. Below are a few links to threads done here at Talk Jesus, that may help provide you a greater understanding of who/what/how to begin this Awesome journey of revelation through Christ Jesus.

How do I accept Jesus as my Savior

How to be friends with God

Why Believe in Christianity

I hope you take the time to read them, and hopefully you will be drawn to understand a little better in the beginning of what it means to not only believe in Jesus, but the rest of the story. Realizing that our Hope is in Jesus and not in what we are able to do by our own efforts is an eye opener.

I will pray for you and once again know that you are welcomed here at Talk Jesus.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Hi,

I'm open to being a Christian but I don't know if Jesus will come to me.

Jesus will come to any genuine and repent heart, find yourself a nice quiet room where you can be on your own without interruptions.

God tells us to go to the closet in private and pray to your Father in Heaven, talk to Him, tell Him you want to be a Christian, you want to be forgiven, you want to be saved.

Repent of all your sins, all your sins, mean it from the bottom of your heart, mean it will all your heart. Ask Jesus into your heart, tell Him you are sorry for your sins, tell Him you believe He was born of Mary by the Power of the Holy Spirit, tell Him you believe He died on the cross for your sins, for the sins of the whole world, tell Him you believe He died and three days later He rose from the dead, open your heart, with tears if necessary.

Jesus will come into your heart my friend if you pray from your heart, saying these things with your lips and believing them, but when He does believe and Trust Him, you will have become a wonderful babe in Christ, there is a lot to learn, just Trust the Lord always, you need to share with other believers because as you grow you will have question after question. You have come to the right place for help, encouragement and prayer, ask anything anytime, there are many here who can guide you.

Don't worry if you feel, I can't feel anything, don't look for sensationalism, God takes you 'as you are' then moulds you to be the person He wants you to be, the reason He moulds us is because we are sinners in need of the Living God, He has to make us repentant sinners ready to be with God. He prepares us for Heaven.

You are at the start of a wonderful journey, life will still have issues, but Jesus will always be there for you.

You say you are LostButTrying, God loves a searching heart my friend, you are honest and you are trying.
Trust Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, He will guide your paths.

Bless you

Jesus Loves You, we do too.

Hi @LostButTrying, how are you?
Do you know that every little steps that we do to get closer to God and know Him, thousands and more angels are rejoicing in Heaven.

This little steps that you do matters so much to God.

Bless you and never stop seeking God because only in Him we will find true fulfilment and joy that this world cannot give.

Thank you all for your good advice. I will keep praying. I have many many sins, really bad ones. I know God has so much love that he can forgive me.
I was Christened as a child but for much of my life I haven't considered such things. I started to read the Bible in prison years ago.
God can overcome anything, so he must have some purpose in this. But I feel l like I'm half dead. I'm very tired.

This is from a devotional I posted almost a year ago. It was called What Should the Weary Do?. I truly hope it helps.

"Come to Me, all [you] who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

When you carry heavy burdens, when you grow weary, when you long for rest, and when you wonder if you can take one more step, Jesus calls you to Himself. He doesn't demand any particular action or mind-set. He knows full well that you're weary, so the invitation is spare and simple.

When Jesus calls you, He only tells you to come as you are. Isn't that a relief? Rather than telling you to get your act together or to wait until you're ready for a greater commitment, He tells you to come at your worst. When you're tired, hopeless, or weighed down with many worries, Jesus tells you to stop waiting around or trying to get your act together. Come as you are, right now.

While He doesn't guarantee solutions or the removal of your burdens, He assures you that coming to His presence will result in rest. If you come to Jesus, things will get better, even if you still bear your burdens.

You don't have to keep soldiering on. Weariness and many burdens become your "qualifications" in coming to Jesus for rest and restoration. Perhaps you'll only be prepared for transformation if you first come to the end of yourself.

Jesus said many times, He still says it today 'Follow me'

Keep praying to the Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, He is the intercessor of all prayer, no one comes to the Father except through the Son.

Bless you
