Hey I am new here. I grow up in a Christian home.
But now I am not sure what I believe every thing blur I am not sure if God is real.
But I really want him to be. But there is a lot of thing in the bible I don’t think I can swallow. How can someone know if God is real?

What is in your heart? Are you thinking that this life will end your existance at that point when you die? Rather will your spirt live on forever? Look inside yourself for the truth and you will come to the light out of the darkness. This will allow you to experence the Spirt and Jesus said that they who worship God must worship in Truth and in Sprit. (read St. John)

Hi marie,
When I struggled with whether God is real, I worked backward from Jesus. The gospel stories about Him are so very difficult to make up, and have that ring of truth. The greatest thing for me was the resurrection. How could Jesus' disciples make up such a crazy story, if it was not true?! :-) Saying that a dead man, instead of decaying, actually came to life again, and they saw Him and talked to him! And go willingly to their deaths defending such a story! If the resurrection was true, and Jesus really rose again from the dead, then that was enough for me! God and the supernatural had to exist, and Jesus Himself had to be somehow the bridge between the natural world we live in, and the spiritual we cannot see.

And this Jesus said he loves all of us and came specially so that we could start our lives over again, be given a second chance, if you will...The offer was too good to resist! I decided to follow Him, and since then, have seen so many changes in lives and so many answers to prayer that I don't doubt the reality of a wonderful, caring, awesome God one tiny bit!!

Try it! :-)

Maria: Welcome to Talk Jesus.

As to your question, "Is God real?", if you are sincerely, and diligently seeking Him, He will reveal Himself to you in some kind of way. When and how, I don't know, but I know that He will do it.

He revealed Himself very powerfully to me in 1983. For much of my life up to that time, I had knowledge of Him, but it was on a superficial level only. Then during the 1970s, I began to feel a thirst growing in my heart; a thirst for something that I really could'nt get a handle on. I felt incomplete; something was missing. In the summer of '83, He began to reveal Himself to me gradually. And I continue to grow in relationship with Him to this day.

"...without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would find God must first believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek for Him diligently."

(Hebrews 11:6)

Thanks for your reply guys. I am having a lot of trouble with the whole faith thing.
It’s really hard for me. But I know I need something I do not like this empty felling
inside.

Hi Marie,

It's great that you're seeking the truth, instead of just switching off like I did years ago! I believed in God as a child, then just stopped believing when I was seventeen. I was an atheist for 6 years, then God revealed Himself to me. I don't believe any person can convince you, or anyone else, of God's existence. God alone can do that. Keep asking, and He will convict you of the truth.

'And so I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened' Luke 11:9
